Watching the last 2 minutes again, it looked like the mids expected the ball to dropped straight down or Sweet to take it and absorb the tackle. I could see Wines and Drew in the frame and they were both flat footed when Sweet smashed the ball forward and had to take off from a standing start.

Surely Lobbe would be instructing and practicing for key moments such as this, and these occasions would be a set play, or range of set plays.
You would think.

Another extremely poor piece of play by Sweet was in the last quarter. Mark Rucciuto called it as well. He had the ball and for some good awful reason believed he has the kicking skills of Nathan Buckley and kicks poorly. Lachie Jones shepherds for Bergman to run through but Bergman is too stupid to realise and then its 50/50 and I think it ends with the Milera goal with a pretty bad decision by the umpires of push in the back in the square keeping us alive. That's why the Rankine free doesn't bother me so much. The Cows were owed.

It's like Sweet was trying to show how bad his footy IQ is to help us to lose the game.

Sweet is just terrible. Such a low footy IQ. Sad thing is our ruck coach was the equivalent. Such a poor appointment.

Sweet reminds me a tad of Maggie's ruckman Kevin Salmon, who wasn't greatly talented but was an absolute work horse who gave 100% for the team every time.

There are obviously some untidy loose ends to sort out (eg his poor decision in that late play against the tingles), but I'm prepared to cut him some slack until I see what he can do under the tuition of a ruck coach who had some ability at the caper himself!

I tacitly agree but I think the handball there was the right play but he just executed poorly. The final centre bounce tho.
Was also that kick across the ground from half back that led to Bergman and Jones cocking up and a goal that was fortunately not allowed due to push in the back on Evans. Whilst it may have been a good decision to make by Sweety, he didn't have the kick to do it. That, and both Bergs and Jones had brain farts themselves. It's like Esava kicking like that or even BZT... you clench your cheeks.

At least he has belief in himself he can do it

Definitely. And that's what everyone including carr would want and like. he's taking the game on but I'm still positive that even Carr is clenching his arse when Sweet gets the ball and goes to do this stuff 😂

Practice and experience makes perfect so if he's learning and getting more confident then good for sweet and entire team in the long run.

I disagree.

I think Carr wants players to show a bit of flair and take the game on but it still has to be within your limits of your game.

Good luck to Sweet and his partner with their upcoming births but Sweet is not the guy you want with ball in hand when the game is on the line.

Sweet does make a lot of unforced errors, has a low footy IQ and seems to think he's Dean Cox out there.

He's missed a couple of goal against IIRC Hawthorn which would've helped ice the game. The next week he kicks a great goal from the sideline and thinks he's Tredders.

Stay in your lane, Sweety.

Was a low % handball that we did not need to attempt considering the time left and the fact we were leading.

I don't know what was available in the 50, but typically you'd want him to kick long to a contest in the 50 and try and lock it in there to run the clock down. Alternatively look to the wing and get a boundary throw in (more difficult now with the new rules)

Going corridor for a risky handball is one of the last options.

It's more likely that this and the handball are due to the new gameplan around taking that option when it's available.

It just needs to be tweaked a little to handle scenarios like this when there is limited time and we are winning - we probably haven't spent a lot of time on those scenarios given where we are at.

Once the gameplan matures, i'm sure we will handle it better.

A bit harsh - he's got decent skills for a ruckman.

We used to have a concept called a kicking license. Only certain players had a license to take on the risky kicks - you had to earn it. If someone that didn't have their kicking license tried to pull off a risky kick, they get dragged - even if it came off. Those that didn't have their kicking license were told to get the ball to those with a kicking license - handball or easy kicks only.

Not the most popular rule, but it makes sense. There are certainly some players on our team that should not have a kicking license - Esava comes to mind.
