With him wanting to come home to be with his father and Essendon offering a paltry pick 19 we can try and trump them?

If the Beams whispers are true (or even not but he would go home) we could offer that and/or a second player (Goldsack or Maccaffer) and/or a pick upgrade for the Gold Coast. Probably not what Caddy is worth but much, much better than Pick 19 in a GWS raided draft?

He would be worth it.

Beams wipers are False though it does not mean we could not Trade him though

Reports were that collingwood really rated Caddy in his draft year, originally wasn't considered a first round prospect and Hine was keen but he just kept playing better and better every week and ended up shooting into the top 10.

would love to get him. I would give up Beams to do so.

That said i dont believe it is going to happen, so i guess theres no point even discussing it.

I thought about getting Caddy too. He seems the Luke Ball type of midfielder, that can kick a goal too.

He would be cheaper than most of the guys on our senior list, so I don't see why we can't try and snag him for McCarthy and Macaffer, who will walk out anyway. If that can't get the deal done we could on trade the pick we got from GWS.

If he wanted to come home to be with his father, then he won't request big money if he can be almost promised success and be with his father.

He could be a dangerous HFF running through the midfield, similar to Beams.

Pretty obvious why we can't, it's because you left out Simon Buckley. Throw him in and Caddy will be on the first flight into Melbourne :thumbsu:

He wont be after big money, he barely even played in 2011 and his contract ends after 2012. No way he could ask for big money when he knows salary cap is tight and his only played 1 good season (assuming his 2012 season is good). If we trade someone like Beams and Toovey for him we free up the salary cap space to do so.

Beams and toovey for Caddy and GC 2nd round

With Toovey wanting more money and Macaffer not being offered a contract.

Looks like we might have some pieces to get involved in a trade for Caddy.

Fair bit better than Essendon's Pick 19..

Essendon is only Caddy's preferred club. Doesn't mean we can't do a Melbourne and put the best offer on the table.

Goldsack Macaffer and Mcarthy would add three good solid bodies to all areas of the GC team. With their huge success of Stanley i think this is a chance, depends how highly Mckenna rates them from his days at Collingwood.

Theres a chance he rates them higher than other teams as he saw them at training and stuff. I think those 3 would add a lot to the GC team, and Caddy isnt a huge lose as they can fill an amazing midfield without him and would of lost him in a few years anyway if not this year due to salary cap

Collingwood would do this in an instant.

Problem is quantity doesn't = value. Regardless of whether these players fit Gold Coast's age profiling.

Caddy was pick 7 in a strong draft. Fringe types don't get quality/ recent high draft picks.

Toovey re-signing means we are well and truely out of the running because he was the only piece who might have been on the table with any value.

Caddy is one I believe Buckley rates for his hardness at the footy.

The reason why a trade for Caddy might have been of interest is because it could have cleared some salary cap space. But he isn't of any relevance to us now and is probably Essendon's to get, unless a Richmond put forward a better deal which is probably the other possibility.

We could get him if we really wanted him, but we'd need to offer one of Wellingham/Beams or Sidebottom, and possibly more, but if he wants to come home I don't see why a str8 swap for Beams wouldn't work, I would swap him for Beams, not the other 2 though.

No need to trade agressively for Caddy.

Keeping Sidebottom/Beams/Wellingham is in our best interests.

Wellingham is set for a breakout season next year. Expect his production to increase.

Beams while he isn't a proven big game player, his finishing skills are fantastic and could very easily push into the midfield. Easily a top 15 club player for mine.

Sidebottom this year was used primarily for defensive purposes. In a way reminds me of Thomas who at a similar age completed much the same roles and was used as that defensive forward to help his development. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sidebottom released into the midfield for a more offensive role this coming year. More than has the endurance to do it.

Caddy while he could play season 1, is a player who would be on the edge of selection but wouldn't necessarily make the best side. Would be at much the standard of McCarthy is at now, which isn't bad. But isn't going to win us a premiership now.
Will develop into a better player than this, but I'm talking level of playing ability in the immediate.

No point taking steps backward when you don't need to. And trading established players like those who would be bought up in trade possibilities for Caddy first are contracted but secondly are more important to our immediate plans over the next 3-4 years than a Caddy would be. As immeditate a player as he may be.

Don't need to ell off the farm guys, lucky you guys aren't recruiters.

Sidebootom, beams etc are you guys kidding me or what.

I would never sell off three premiership guns fo9r an unproven player!

Smart negotiating is the key.

If Caddy wants to come home then package up Macaffer(premiership player) only 22 and proven,Macarthy only 21 and will develop and throw in some one like Dick, otherwise NO DEAL.

That's 3 players who have proven abilty for a kid that COULD be good.

That is by a far a fair trade otherwise retire Dick, let macarthy go to north for a pick and keep macaffer(has just been offered a two year deal by pies)

Yep, two blokes that have been on the table all week and haven't received an offer and one bloke that is retiring should definitely net us Caddy.

Smart negotiating; trade our shit for Gold Coast's quality. I don't know why we didn't think of it earlier.

Beacuse smart negotaitions get the deals done.If not walk away.

Who is Caddy ? Pick 7 right ? No guarantees he'll work out.
Richard tambling was pick 3 what happened to him richmond got screwed on that deal .there are many deals that haven't worked like that.
Until a player is proven picks mean zipp.
Sidebottom ,beams even palyers like Goldasc are experienced premiership players i would never hand Gold Coast proven players for some kid that MAY work out.You know though macaffer once he gets himself right will be a very good hard bodied player. So to with macarthy who is still very young but has played at elite level more than Caddy.

Macaffer is 22, a premiershp player but was injured this year.At his best he is a very good player we missed him this year.I would like him to stay.

For the caddy deal we would offer 2 players who are bigger bodied and have played elite level, you know what your going to get.
With Caddy it's all promises, that's the difference.

Beacuse smart negotaitions get the deals done.

And stupid negotiations get laughed at. Guess where yours fits?

Throwing in Simon Buckley might change the game though. Or maybe we can prelist Anthony Corrie and package him up in the deal, that would surely be the clincher?
