I think an elite preseason where he improved his fitness, strength and speed may of helped too...

He was almost at the crossroads last year, probably had a bit of a reality check that it wasn't just going to happen for him because he was a Daicos and worked his ass off.

Almost at the crossroads last yr.. what.. after 3 yrs in the system.. a 20-21 yr old.. at the crossroads? Learning how the game is played in the VFL for a good portion of that. Well I guess Tyler Brown is at the crossroads as well eh?

Reality check cause of his name.. easy ride eh? So he thought 'oh.. better work my ass off?'. He was a kid building up to where he is today.

Some of the nonsense you write is baffling.

The average AFL career is 3-4 years genius, kids who struggle in their first 3 years often find their careers at the crossroads. Some kick on, and many others don't. Lucky for us Josh has improved huge amounts because he wasn't that flash last year.

Some are drafted and either don't play a game.. or play a couple.. and they're gone.. and there's a shit load of those.. you barely ever notice they're on a list. So a lot of em only ever last a yr or 2 if they're lucky.

Genius.

Look more comfortable out there each week, while it’s unlikely he’ll reach his dad’s heights, you can tell he’s a daicos, looks like he knows what he’s going to do before he gets the ball.

Hardly anyone be good as his Dad but I agree you can see the Daicos Traits in him though

Can’t believe anyone ever had any doubt in this kid really. Glad to see he’s crushing it now.

AA wingman next year ;)

He never showed this Much Potential even in the VFL before this Season

Kids are like that in the big league, it takes them time to acknowledge within themselves that they 'belong' Once they get that confidence rises and execution, play reading and all the rest slot into place.
Some come to it quicker than others, for Josh the complication of having a legendary Collingwood champion father is a further hurdle he has had to overcome.

Executes well off both sides, love what he brings to this team.

I do love hearing the name during commentary

He's making a habit of getting forward when we need him too. Great finish on his left foot wasn't it?
Definitely one of his best traits. How many times has he bailed us out of some trouble with a great goal? And so clinical too - has 10 goals 3 for the season.

Daicos’ coming of age has been a highlight of a dismal and unpredictable year. Has become one of our more creative and reliable players. Sort of snuck up on us, despite the hope (and hype) vested in his name. His Dad would be loving this too.

He is a Keeper, hopefully a long career and a few more levels to go Up yet. He is still filling out but oozes poise and class.

I think Josh should grab the No. 35. I love the fact that Darcy is honouring his Dad”s number.
Feel like 35 is going to be for Nick. Sick of having it tossed around willy-nilly between incoming first year players, but Josh has never seemed into no.35

I truly love my dad dearly and am very proud of him ...

... but gee, I couldn’t think of anything worse than having old codgers (like me) - commentators and punters alike - incessantly comparing everything I do to what my old man did back in the day.

Total agreement - remember he is the first born son of a Collingwood legend - first born. Rightly or wrongly he was always going to be burdened by mountainous expectations from Pies supporters and the idiot media alike almost from the moment he was born.

The way he is playing at the moment, he is carving out his own career, in his own name.

But geez, sometimes, the way he moves...................

His goal-sense is quite something. Pulls goals out of thin air, and has a very similar ability to not get tackled, or get the kick off before he does. Loving what he's doing, and can't wait to have two of them out there!

I posted it earlier but how great will it be to see him play in front of a full/near full MCG. I just missed out on getting to see his dad play by a few years.

A Daicos (or two) to put On a show for the Magpie faithful will be incredible.

Watching his old man turn it on at Victoria Park was just magnificent - the atmosphere he created was amazing to be a part of.

Yep, remember it very fondly. And the absolute terror on the face of his opponent when the ball came near.:p
