Toast Josh Dunkley

Been handled perfectly in the past few weeks - was given a run with role to learn from the best and he's risen to the occasion.

Still developing, certainly has time on his side.
Wasn’t a fan of drafting him. Thought he’d been overrated by this board for his 2016 season. Had a poor 2017 season and started this year the same.

He’s been pretty impressive over the last month. Really starting to like what I’m seeing.

I’m still concerned as to how one paced we are in the middle.

Libba, Wallis, Macrae, Bont, Dunkley are all slow.

Dahlhaus has has lost zip and McLean isn’t a speedster (although he’s probably the quickest right now).

In addition Williams probably ain’t the quickest either.

Don’t think we can continue with the one paced style of midfielders.

Agree. That's why the draft thread has many calls for a speedy and skilful midfielder (skilful disposal is not one of Dunks' strengths either). Someone like Bailey Smith appears to fit that bill.

In his first year he showed he was a legit finals player. Then his shoulder fell off.

He’s a very solid AFL level talent, that will look even better in a mature team, where he can be effective again as a forward as well.

Needs to be more damaging as a mid. That might not be his game but we need him to develop that side. Don't want to have too many players getting 30 touches with limited impact

Pretty underrated as a forward, has great leap and hands
His kicking technique is pretty simple which is what i like

Career high 33 disposals for Josh last night.

Over the last 6 weeks he's now averaging 28 disposals, 7.7 tackles, 3.8 clearances, 11 CPs & 4 I50s.

Very exciting to have a 21 year old having this sort of impact in the midfield for an extended stretch. Hopefully he can keep it going for the last 3 weeks of the season.

along with Schache been one of the only shining lights. Pretty impressive turn around

Some might say he's been expertly managed this season.

Watching the game, he doesn't even really stand out either. Just goes about his business, much like how Macrae used to be. Bodes well for the future.

It’s hard to predict which direction he goes in from here, as his numbers at this age are similar to a lot of good players.

If this 6 week patch isn’t an anomaly, I think he projects as a bigger Taylor Adams, with an ability to impact in stints forward in a way that Adams can’t.

He’s shown an aptitude for the defensive side recently as a run with player, he’s tall and looks to have the body type to stack on muscle so is there any reason he can’t become what his dad was? A rock solid fullback

Beg to differ. Been a few more positives.
Richards
Naughton
McLean improvement
Williams improvement
Lipinski improvement
English before injury
Half glass full despite only 6 wins.

The kid has taken the increased midfield minutes given to him mid year and made it his own. He has shown what he can become and it’s exciting. Add Bailey Williams into the mix and hopefully a fit Libba and our midfield grunt looks OK. Williams and Libba are also decent kicks which helps.
Another big summer and Dunks is going to be someone to watch.

I really like Dunkley, but as a forward he hasn't shown much in my opinion. Unless it is a Dylan Addison style defensive forward. I know he has a good mark and some strength and all that but he doesn't really get many goals. Don't get me wrong, he's a real player.

Macrae and Mclean also having career best seasons. I'd also consider Naughton, Gowers and Richards as "shining lights". Love English's early games too. Also the recruitment of Crozier who is in career best form since coming to the kennel. I'd say there's a bit more than just Dunkley and Schache but maybe I'm an optimist.
