As much as I want Burgoyne, Operation Gibson should be just as high a priority. I'm really warming to the idea and hope we can get it done early in trade week.
He would be a great fit with Gilham, Schoenmakers and Birchall.

I think the suggestion behind that trade is justified.
Both are talented youngsters. Thorp was pick 6, JWS would have been a top 10 pick if he wasn't a father/son pick.
Both have had injury woes. JWS with his ankle and 'strings, Thorp with his hip and leg.
Both have had a few years at their respective clubs and may benefit from a new home.
Both fit a need for the other club. Roos could do with a CHF, Hawks can do with another HBF/Midfield option.

wow....I know JWS is talented and all but I think you're going a bit overboard...... Thorp has only been able to play only a few senior games due to his injuries......remember he was taken at number 6 in the draft....so it's gonna be interesting to see if he can deliver.

JWS has proven he is capable, Thorp has proven jackshit!
Smith would have been top 5 according to the experts, if he didn't go father son. There has never been any doubt on wether he is good enough, whereas Thorp there is huge doubts.
You were the one who thought is was quite funny that people suggest you trade Thorp for Smith. I find it quite funny that you think Thorp is worth more than Smith.
I for one will be gutted if Smith leaves, because if he can get his body right he will be an absolute star. I would go as far to say that if he leaves his injuries behind he will be just as good as Burgoyne and a lot younger.
Smith has shown more, but in my opinion is less likely to ever get over his injuries. I'd be pretty disappointed if the Hawk's gave him a spot on the list, if his name was Jones we wouldn't touch on injury prone young player from another club (particularly with Croad and Bailey already taking up spaces with little chance they'll every play), and names shouldn't come into it when trading.

I thought it was funny because it'd be swapping two injury prone players......in other words why bother!!.. If you read my previous posts you would have seen that I am not doubting JWS' ability at all!!

Hard to verify that claim given he never actually plays football.
We did all this Smith business last year. For nothing.

Not hard to verify the claim. All you have to do is look at their AFL careers. Smith has played great football when on the park. Thorpe, well what has he done when he has got on the park?
Thorpe is a million miles away from playing in a Semi-Final, let alone being BOG in one.
The problem with that comparison is that Thorp has played all of 2 games, compared to JWS' 27.
