I hate the thought of him going back to the blues...it has been stated a couple of times, mostly by posters but has been referenced by Blues players that he is "Carlton through and through". Considering that Judd is there now and they are a team "on the up" playing finals ect.. it would be an attractive prospect to return, especially if the money was right.

Any animosity between him and them for trading him out of the blues could be quelled quickly, I dont actually think that he has any hard feelings towards the team he knows it was required for them to get Judd.

Carlton would jump at him in a heartbeat as well, as much as the supporters wont admit it they still need another good tall forward target. And they dont have a soul so offering him big money to come back wouldnt be above them.

I would go postal on him of course....

I would like him back in the fold, was sad when he left. He has the potential to become a very good player if he stays injury free.

Hansen this season has averaged (in round numbers) 11 disposals, 5 marks and 1 goal per game. It has been widely touted on this board that his output has been significantly below what we expect of our CHF.

An elite CHF would probably average 20 disposals, 8 marks and 2 goals per game.

On that basis, would it not be fair to expect Kennedy to produce somewhere in between?

Say, 14 or 15 disposals, 6 or 7 marks and 1 or 2 goals?

As for whether the marks are contested or uncontested, I would say an indication of a well-functioning forwardline would be if your CHF could take uncontested marks, provided they are in a dangerous part of the ground.
I would say thats about the mark. Hansen has averaged just 7.2 touches, 0.4 goals, 3.4 marks in the last five games. Now thats not completly his fault, against the Hawks it was wet and the delivery has been average at times but his failed to find the ball has been poor.

It would be intresting to see what happens if we drop hunter in a few weeks.

Its as much about creating a contest, imposing himself on contests and taking and threatening to take contested marks.

You watch St Kilda and see the ball go in the area of Kosi or Riewoldt and they are always a chance to mark the ball and at worst hit the contest hard and cause a contest. Hansen never ever really looks a threat in this regard and doesnt impose himself physically at all.

If Kennedy can be a big physical presence who impacts the forward half he will be an improvement on Hansen regardless of his stats.

Well let's hope Josh can bring our other forwards into the game, that's where Hansen lets us down, even if he marks it on a lead he doesn't play-on enough to get the ball down to the Big Unit or LeCras quick enough.

If Josh can just get the ball down to the advantage of LeCras and Masten in contested marking situations then they have the creativity to do the rest.

Good Luck Josh, hopefully it's your pozzie for the rest of the year

Exactly.

And that is reflected in the St Kilda players' statistics.

The stats may reflect their presence in terms of marks, possesions, goal assists etc. Don't disagree with that. But they only partly reflect the level of contest they bring to...well...each contest. It forces a different defensive approach from other teams. By their very physical nature of providing a contest and making their physical presence felt in the forward line it brings their other forwards into the game.

If Kennedy can at least bring that intensity (and threat) to the contest it will force opposition defenses to play our CHF differently to how they would if Hansen was playing there. Regardless of how many marks, possessions Kennedy gets, it gives LeCras and McKinley more space, it provides a bit more breathing space for the midfield defensively as they don't see the ball go I50 near our CHF's contest only to see it swept up and pinging over their heads back the other way moments later.

JFK comes out of contract this year doesn't he?

We have to give this guy some game time to prove if he's got what it takes, we sure as hell have been looking for that elusive gun key forward for a long long time and Hansen ain't it!

If we stuff him around and not give him a go he'll be back at the Blues before you can say Dick Pratt has deep pockets.
Signed for 3 years when he came on board I'm pretty sure

Anyway, why on earth would he want to go back to a club that offloaded him to get another player?

I disagree. The only way Kennedy will demand attention from our opponents, is if he damages them himself. Merely making a contest will mean that defenders can sit off him and concentrate on LeCras and McKinley, as they have been doing with Hansen as our CHF.

Anyway, let's hope Kennedy can cause the opposition some headaches with strong marking and accurate kicking to a lead or at goals, which I'm confident he can produce.

Carlton let him go without so much as a whimper...what does that tell you ?
That Judd is a better player than Kennedy? They gave us a bloke from WA whos a forward because
A) He wont dog us and cry hes homesick
B) Because we needed quality developing KP forwards ... emphasis on developing.

For god sake, stop trying to imply every player on our list is f***ing useless. Its getting tiresome reading some of your shit. Which player did you expect the Blues to offer us then?

If Carlton had this bloke playing for them yesterday, they more than likely would've won the game. They kicked like shit and Fev did nothing. The only forward to stand up was Waite, who they took out of their non existant defence. Carlton posters will talk up their Key position stocks, they have none! They gave the best young one they had to us, who just so happened to be a West Aussie too.

I like what the Eagles got out of the Judd trade. It fast forwarded our rebuild by a year by getting 3 young talents for him.
Once Judd left we had to rebuild since we were no longer a premiership threat and were most likely to slide rather dramatically, especially with the Cousins saga and departure.
In the coming years Kennedy, Notte and Masten will play a big role in the Eagles fortunes.
Kennedy can only improve from here and already looks a very promising and likely type. I'm very happy that he is an Eagle and hope he takes over CHF permanently from Hansen.

Did some really good stuff today without being dominant. Was quiet through the middle if the game though. Shame he couldn't finish off with a goal.

I couldn't see the game. Did he give us more than Hansen has in any of his games this year?

You mean, did he give us more than 'nothing'.. The answer is yes. At least when he was good with his hands and on the lead. He was in and out of the game alot, but plenty of potential if he gets more time, which he should.

He played all round the ground and presented himself alot which is good. Took a few marks and crashed some packs and brought the ball down if he couldnt mark which Hansen doesnt do.

I would almost say that we may have lost today if Hansen were in the team instead of JK.

I think I'd give Kennedy a pass for that performance. He was quietish for most of the game, but had a good final quarter and narrowly missed a good goal. Admittedly, Rivers going down would have helped his cause. Not a bad first up game IMO and hopefully he'll get some confidence from that and continues to improve.
