Devilish bet on Judd

MELBOURNE'S quiet confidence of securing Chris Judd has been supported by a punter wanting to wager $25,000 on the transfer.
The punter, previously unknown to the bookmaking firm fielding a market on Judd's future, was refused the full bet but was allowed to place $2000 at $3.50 on Judd becoming a Demon.
Sportsbet's Phil Hannah said the punter's actions left him curious.
"Four days ago, out of the blue, he asked for $25,000 on Judd to be at Melbourne," Hannah said.
"He just said he was a Melbourne man and wanted to have a crack, and I am very sceptical about that; where there is smoke there is fire.
"With markets such as this we tend not to be all that big on because people know the outcome before we do, and we let him on for $2000 at 5-2 ($3.50).
"It was a new account and all his family has bet on the same outcome as well."
Sportsbet has taken $20,000 worth of bets on the Judd market since opening it on September 18.
Carlton was initially listed at $1.40 and while it remains favourite, has drifted to $2. Melbourne and Collingwood are at $3, with Essendon, the only other club under 25-1 at $8.
"Eight out of 10 bets we have written have been on Collingwood," Hannah said.
"We opened them at $14 and they have come in to $3."
Four clubs - Carlton, Melbourne, Essendon and Collingwood - have made significant pitches for Judd.
