Yeah, I was looking over his stats and most games he doesnt get any marks. Not even uncontested.

hmmmmmmm i tend to disagree with this comment, the style of player judd is, is a break the packs silky skilled type player i mean sure theres always room for improvement but his pace and ball control are the reasons why he won a brownlow and a norm smith so i wudnt be overly concerned.

I hear you.
It is not what he doesn't bring but what he does bring which has us excited.
I have never seen someone blow past players with such ease and burst away even with taggers all around.
Plus he has football smarts and has earnt the respect of all.
These things will make him invaluable provided he is fit.
I do not think Ratts will have him in the gym do military presses to strengthen his marking

Exactly. He got 29 possessions and one mark in the 2005 GF and the one mark is a telling stat - it means he is getting the ball where it hurts and not drifting out into space for easy kicks.

Could be that he doesnt take them overhead because of his shoulder problems as a youngster.

Actually, he's a fairly strong overhead mark. Given he's tall-ish for a midfielder, it's what makes him so effective when he goes forward to rest. He's a better CONTESTED mark than just about all of our midfielders (look up the stats).

The reason he doesn't take lots of marks overall, is because he takes bugger-all UNCONTESTED marks. He either gets the first possessions himself or receives handballs and uses his jets to get the clearance. He is 100% NOT a midfielder who racks up cheap shitty stats in the backline marking kickouts, etc.

See Scotland, Heath for an example of one that does. No disrespect for him, he's very good and I like him, but one of the reason his stats are so pumped is he takes 10 uncontested marks across half back every game.
