Surely they need to appeal.....can someone tell me what exactly he did that was so bad....Rischitelli got straight up without flinching...(sure the video did not sustain sufficient evidence)

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

Meh, we've got the punt road flogs in rnd 1, and we'll smash the scum even without Judd, so I'm not too worried, lets hope we're scheduled to play Melbourne or Freo in rnd 2 ...

I can't see him beating the charge with all the mass hysteria in the media sadly.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

2 weeks is fair. Absolutely no need to casually bend over a player on his back and do what Judd did. Whether it was an eye poke, attacking a pressure point () or scratching his nose, I know if an opposition player did it to one of our boys I'd want them rubbed out, too.

Stupid by Judd but hopefully it means our mids will take some responsibility onto themselves knowing they'll start next year without Juddy by their side.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

That's my point....what is the charge? and where is the evidence with Judd's finger's in Rischitelli's eyes?

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

Seems fair enough. Hopefully this is the end of it and we don't have to listen to this throughout the off-season ad nauseum though.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

It doesn't matter where contact was eventually made, Heath Scotland got done by grabbing at somebody's face, under a generic misconduct charge.

Really sets the start of our season back depending on our draw. I thought it was Nick Stevens who was in to ****ing up the start of our season by being stupid. Juddy is a great player, but probably not the messiah some think he is. Would like to see his comments on this rush of blood.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

I think the fact that Judd had been charaged with eye-goughing before, and the fact that the face/eye ball is sacroscant means that he was probably always going to get suspended ...

We just have to cop our 'whack', it was a really dumb (not malicious though) thing to do,but as I say, we've got the bye/easy beats in rnd 1 anyway, so it would only hurt for one game, so lets cop the 2 week penalty ... I honestly can't see the Tribunal letting him off if we contested the charge, the evidence on the TV looks pretty damning.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

It was announced on SEN, and I think it's about right, as much as I hate to say it.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

This is just silly...

What exactly did he do... Attempted trying to push on someones ear??

Would of been better off knocking him out by the sounds of it according to the Franklin suspension where he would of got off with 1 with the guilty plea....

Talk about a media frenzy getting someone rubbed out....

I am certain the Richmond V Carlton rnd 1 fixture is going ahead again next year, I think especially with an crowd of Nearly 90 K for the season opener, the AFL will be loathe to tamper with a winning formula.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

It's a bit weird knowing that he won't even qualify for the following year's brownlow.

I know this is off topic but the only reason for the massive crowd for Rnd 1 was the Judd Vs Cousins showdown.

I think 2 weeks is a bit harsh. Franklin got 1 for knocking someone senseless, Judd gets 2 for applying pressure to the back of someone's ear. Bizzare act from Judd yes, didn't injure the guy though

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

While Judd deserved something out of plain stupidity I want to know why Rance can punch Buddy in the face and not get cited because of the lack of force despite during blood and loosening a tooth but on the other hand Judd can tickle a bloke face, NOT eye gouge, and get 3 weeks?

Both are the face. One's a fist, the other's a few fingers. What does the most damage? Damage is a big decider on how both a charge is laid and determining the length of a suspension. That's if it's all consistent.

Judd saying something about finding a pressure points was dumb and even Fev wouldn't have put his foot in it that deep.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

I'm really disappointed. He's supposed to be the leader of our club and set an example for all the younger boys and to casually walk up and do something so stupid is absolutely disgraceful. He was so flippant about it when talking to the media too and being a second offense there's no point appealing it.

ps. theres the evidence.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

I think Judd was trying to pick lesser of the 2 evils when he said he was trying to find a pressure point - now that he's said it, it makes him sound even more silly.

I'm a Carlton supporter and a Judd fan, but to defend Judd on this one is extremely one eyed (excuse the pun). Whether he is going for the eye, or trying to find a pressure point - which I presume is to cause pain to the opposition player - shows a bit of unnecessary malice and is definitely not directed to attacking the footy, but more so to attacking the man :thumbsd::(

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

Juddy obviously failed anatomy at school… that doesn’t look like the “back of his ear” to me.

Silly on his part. Take the weeks and lets move on.

The charge is "unreasonable contact to the face", which covers just about any contact that they don't like. I can understand why they don't like what Judd did, or more accurately, was trying to do. It wasn't neccessary, and indeed he went out of his road to do it.

Fevola got suspended a few years ago for something more innocuous. There's no "gouge" rule as such. I think the idea is to catch the sort of thing Libber did to Matthew Knights as much as anything else.

Stupid move, if we'd won we'd have been without our captain for the rest of the finals. You'd think he'd have learnt after the Brown incident, but hopefully the message has sunk in now.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

Needs to take the 2 weeks and work very hard at getting respect back. Buckley managed to do it after wiping blood on an opponent, so hopefully Judd will be remembered for being the champion player that he is.

Re: Judd given 2 weeks with early plea

bit harsh, martial arts move that wouldn't hurt a fly gets 2 weeks, break someones face get 4 weeks. He should have just knocked him out.
