Does anyone know what SC points Jude Bolton was on before he kicked the match winning goal?

He finished on 157 odd

Ive heard players get much bigger than normal scores for acts of play that determine the out come of a match

From memory I think he was just over the 100. I was kind of looking just before he got the goal and yeah, I think he was just over 100.

Someone in the SC thread said he went from 80 odd to 150. Pretty decisive goal

They generally bump it up around 40-50 points.

He went from 88 to 150 in that play

Is this true? Does SC actually give out bonus points because I cannot find any written material to back this up.

I have tried to convince my fellow SC mates that bonus points are given in circumstances like Bolton's, B.Johnson , Wonamerri etc, but they just laught at me.

Can anyone shed some light on this topic.

I'm pretty sure it is true, ive heard a few whispers about it but champion data dont release how they actually do there scoring.

for example the dogs vs crows game when johnno kicked the last 3 goals he apparently got about 100 points in that last qtr, but didnt do the normal stuff that gets those points throughout the whole qtr, just the 3 match winning goals at the end.

when j bolton was lining up for goal i quickly checked gameday live to see what he was on to see how much he went to but after the score changed i realised i was looking at c boltons score.......im an 1diot!!! so i missed it but the numbers previously stated in the posts above would sound right

I remember someone saying that had B Johnson kicked that winning goal against the kangas his score would jumped by 57 and that had he kicked straight in the last quarter (1.3) he would have finished with 100pts more than his three quarter time score.

Yeah, I remember watching Brad Johnson in round one, that last goal boasted his score by like 40 points. Oh, and what about Gary Ablett's 254, I know it wasn't that close in the end, but maybe he got extra points for winning the game? I didn't see the live scores cause I was at the game.

Kept an eye on this, his score was 103, then when the goal came up in the live scoring update section, he was 150, so a jump of 47 points

Champion Data introduced "weightings" to their scores in 2005. These were based on the state of play and the proximity to goal. Eg kicking a winning goal after the siren scores more than kicking a goal when your already 5 goals up. Likewise, turning the ball over (a clanger) when your in your own backline is more costly than if you do so on the half forward line.

Quote from AFL Prospectus 2007 - "Mathematically this state-of-play weighting is based on the derivative of match-winning probability with respect to a score change. We also normalised the the total number of ranking points in a match to be 3300 - previously players in teams with a slow, methodical game-plan such as Sydney were effectively being penalised because they couldn't rack up the same numbers of possessions as the Western Bulldogs."
