Folks it’s that time again.

Numerous jumpers available.

Who will get what?

Obviously, the newest draftee will wear 35.

Quaynor will need something new, 3?

Cameron will require something but what?

will Mihocek move down in numbers?

over to you....

Doubt if any current rookies will get a number upgrade (the only exception would be Mihocek as he is a senior player dressed up in rookie clothing).
IQ obviously gets a new number.
WHE may get an upgrade.
Cameron gets 14.

Where you are likely right is about rookies.

also in recent years our club (players) have not swapped numbers or “upgraded” numbers.
obviously the 35 business continues but otherwise there’s been little change.

id likely think on this basis that Mihocek remains in 41 as he’s had it for 2 years.
hed be ok in 14 (a guess by me) but I think your Cameron in 14 sounds like what will more likely happen. Good call.

the only players very high up are Wilson in 48 and Noble in 49, those two might venture down as numbers are readily available and the high 40s are a bit unwanted (as a rule).

My little obsession with the jumper numbers.

so tonight we now know that the amazing athlete Jay Rantall (he’s all ours) is the new custodian of 35.

here is the list and perhaps the new numbers
(at a pure guess with a splash of logic with recent times numbers behaviour).

§ = looking for a new number
^ = has been delisted but promised a spot so may just keep his original number
€ = ones that may request a new number, perhaps

I’m sorry but I hate the 35 tradition, it spits in the face of those who wore it proudly before them, Daicos and Presti in particular. The number will not ever become someone’s number. Kids won’t put it an their jumper for one year and it will not become an iconic number again. Instead it gets tossed around each year to different players never to stop at one player.
“Make 35 great again”

The general consensus would be the whole 35 business has has its time and isn’t a winner.

the spit’s in the face is a bit harsh. it’s just an idea that once started, given a go, just hasn’t caught on or matters to anyone in particula.

probably only Ed really likes it, hmmm.

For me, its just all too silly.

Simply, just give 35 to Nick Daicos when he arrives and say, ”kid, it’s all yours.”

3 Darcy Cameron
6 Isaac Quaynor
9 John Noble
14 Max Lynch
35 Jay Rantall
39 Trent Bianco
45 Trey Ruscoe

3 - Quaynor
6 - Bianco
9 - Noble
14 - Cameron
35 - Rantall
39 - Ruscoe

Wilson will stay at 48 and 49 will go back to being unused. Dunn will stay in 15 if he's on the list and Lynch won't move.

On reflection and our tendency in recent years not to over juggle player numbers, Tom Wilson probably does remain in 48. I’d love him in 6 but we probably don’t go that way.

id really like to give our new blood some great numbers and can see us giving Bianco something like 6 or 14.
maybe Cameron doesn’t just take a low number and us content with 39?

do we distribute 15 now that Dunn is not yet returning at this point?
might be nice for Cameron then.

can certainly see Noble bob up in a better number so he’s the opposite to Murray in attitude you’d think, so why not give him 9?

changes hence:

35 is certain with J Rantall

  • 3 I Quaynor
  • 6 T Bianco
  • 9 J Noble
  • 14 T Ruscoe
  • 15 L Dunn
  • 39 D Cameron

#9 a bit of a black hole for us historically, yeah? Can we leave that blank next year?!

No number 9, no Phil Carman.... or should we only remember him wearing number 2?

3. Quaynor
6. Noble
9. Mihocek
14. Cameron
35. Rantall
39. Bianco
41. Ruscoe
Don’t you think Bianco deserves a “better” number.

Lifelong Collingwood young fellow needs a “nicer” number.

I think 39 was pretty good for a young man named Shaw. Let him start in that and work his way down to 5 in 5-6 years!
Nice thinking.
