Even though he has been named, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. But he is over his injury and even though he is underdone, I think he must play. Patto can only be competitive in the ruck for the first 5 minutes each quarter or first 5 minutes after a spell on the bench until he tires out. His lack of height and experience don't allow him to be very competitive after the first few minutes. Simmo won't be match fit, but if he can make it a 50-50 contest in the ruck for the middle 10 minutes of each quarter, then Patto can come back off the bench with enough energy to last the rest of the quarter while Polak can be used properly in the defence all game. Playing Simmo will allow Patto to rest more on the bench and it will mean Polak won't have to play in the ruck at all. Simmo has to work his way back into fitness straight through the seniors and that's our only option in this case

That all makes sense madness , but it comes down to fitness.

if there was even a hint of doubt you would not risk him . He is to critical to our side .

he's been resting for 2 months and training well. Terry is just worried about his match fitness but we badly need another ruckman and I think a 70% fit Simmo can match Richards in the ruck, while I don't think Fraser is that great a ruckman. Ben Johnson is out and Wakelin was dropped strangely, so this is a game we must take control of and win. If we get by with a win and hopefully by 4 or 5 goals then we can get the season back on track with Browny about to come back and our percentage on 100

Great to see our No 1 Ruckman named in the team tomorrow. Huge plus for our Tiges, even if he plays 1/2 game! Wallace may even have the luxury of resting the big man in the forward line if the game is up for grabs.

Dont let him run round the ground at all. Patto can compete with Fraser and Richards(lol) at ground level no worries so let Simmo take a few hit-outs, sit him up forward and expose Collingwoods undersized defense. :thumbsu: Move over Wallace, Phoenix is in the house and my name in all over your solar tanner. ;)

Assuming Simmonds does play and Collingwood line up as named, I'd be inclined to leave Gaspar, JB and Moore to handle Rocca, Cloke and probably Fraser/Richards changing from ruck to forward, then stretch them down back with Richo, Schulz, and Polak/Simmonds/Pattison changing from the goalsquare and CHF to the ruck.

I think we can gamble that neither Cloke or the Fraser/Richards combo can hurt us on the scoreboard too badly, with Rocca the only key forward to genuinely worry about in terms of major impact.

They look short down back...we should give them the headache of dealing with a tall, strong marking forward line and nurse Simmonds by playing him always deep inside 50.

I doubt Fraser and Richards can genuinely hurt us in the ruck either...we should use Simmonds sparingly if this turns out to be the case...particularly after half-time.

Yeah no worries, and if the game is in the balance do you still want to use him sparingly? If he's fit play him, if not, he'll be watching from the stands............................sparingly:D

There is no way given our current situation that Simmonds would be left out due to TW being worried about his match fitness,if that's their story then good and well but i think the only possible reason he would be left out of such an important game in the context of the year, with such depleted ruck stocks would be the risk of further injury.

Im not here trolling, id watch collingwood with late changes especially Wakelin, he butchered the ball last week but i still think he'll be in this week.

and on another note i like pattison and think he'll be a gun player (probably helps ive seen him play form high school days), he is just not a ruckman maybe a second ruckman playing centre half forward most of the time kinda like cloke for us, i think you should look at why wallace plays him as your number 1 ruck now that simmonds and knobel are out (cant speak about your younger ruckman), but until he gets to play at CHF/FF gve the kid a break he'll be a good player for you and always gives everything he has got.
