This board has been pretty dead last few days, so i have been checking out the Rivals and official eagles boards. Some of the stuff i read there got me thinking:

1) Why the hell do freo claim Woosha, Sumich, etc to be freo boys? Why do they claim them as their own? None of these players ever played for fremantle, they simply played a season or 2 for a club which simply has a similar name. What makes East freo part of the dockers? Literally nothing! Heck, freo isn't even in fremantle, but rather in Perth at Subiaco.

2) Why do freo supporters claim East and West Freo's history as part of their own? I have heard them many times claiming they have a rich footballing history. Correct me if I'm wrong, but prior to 1995 Freo didn't have a history!!

3) Why does Alan continue to write a thesis everytime he posts on the official eagles forum?

4) Why hasn't Harding been delisted yet? Is he sleeping with Nisbett or something? That would have to explain why we signed him to start with.

Thats just some of the things on my mind, thought i would post it in an attempt to keep this board alive until at least the draft.

1) They have to find something good in their past so grasp at straws

2) Correct

3) The enigmatic Alan. Curse of the Eagles :D

4) Beats me.....surely it would have been better to keep Kempy even if he didn't play !!!

1) Why the hell do freo claim Woosha, Sumich, etc to be freo boys? Because they need something to make up for a history that is completely devoid of achievement. Notice of course, that they wouldn't "claim them" but for the respect these people gained wearing blue and gold.

2) Why do freo supporters claim East and West Freo's history as part of their own? Again, substitution for an actual past. When West Coast was seven seasons old we had 2 GF appearances and a big shiny cup to show for it - had we not, we probably would have been reeling off the names of past WAFL deeds like a mantra too. But we actually achieved something other than a reputation for failing to meet expectations.

3) Why does Alan continue to write a thesis everytime he posts on the official eagles forum? Love of his club, I'm sure!

4) Why hasn't Harding been delisted yet? Calm down, there's four more days yet...

Harding better be delisted....what honest use do we have for him, he's not tall enough to take the big forwards, he's not small enough to take the small forwards, hes not quick, h isnt a strong mark.......he's just a fill in player.

Surely with the youth we have now that he wont be needed next year. I dont mind the guy and i hope he comes out next year and proves me all wrong but i just dont see it happening.

1. Desperation
2. Do you mean East and South Fremantle? If so, they do have a strong tradition at state level (ie WAFL). The problem is that the Dockers have tried to create a new club instead of drawing on traditional rivalries - and I agree they would be more parochial if based in Freo not at Subi, but there isn't a good enough ground and it would cost too much to build one.
3. A combination of passion and inability to make a point concisely
4. Because he's very cheap (relatively) so fits under the salary cap and they are praying that his ankles can be improved so he can produce the promise he showed in the early Docker days (when he was one of Freo's best players). I don't think he ever will, but there it is.

1) Docker fans get very desperate at times.
They had nothing to do with the development of guys like Woosh, Suma and Jako, but they are a very delusional bunch of people.

2) East Fremantle and South Fremantle do have a rich football history and culture. Docker fans just presume that because they've got the word 'Fremantle' in their name, that they inherit this great culture. How wrong they are.

3) Because he's a passionate supporter.

4) The Greg Harding & Daniel Metropolis trade is hilarious. Harding is a dud, but then so is Metro - so it doesn't hurt as much.
