Different James Gallagher.

One is ex Crows player, St Kilda list manager now on our board, the other not a footballer of note, became a lawyer and is now AFLPA CEO.

For very different reasons, neither should be our list manager.

He certainly took a while to find his feet. The last 4 or so years have been much more strategic list building.

The replacement is not going to be anyone currently in a senior position at another club. No one would let anyone go and enter the season scrambling for a replacement.

Every appointment we make seems to be with people on "L plates".

Dom Ambrogio (Lions list manager) and a hell of a lot of list managers followed the very same pathway as Justin Reid. i.e. recruiters or player managers before moving on to List Management. All have one thing in common generally decent talent identification in their C.V..

It's generally a position the candidates grow into.

I think we might have a couple of good candidates from within the club.

As you mentioned, Shane Edwards looks a likely type.

I also think Dan Jackson is highly regarded, I wonder if he would throw his hat into the ring ?
Quite a different role but he appears to be talked about highly and could fit into the role.

It will be interesting to see if we promote from within again, which we like to do.

I think a change can be good after someone has been in the role for so long, but that's entirely dependent on who we hire and management wise we have a pretty iffy track record there.

I know a guy who has been heavily involved in list management who had some time free up recently.
