Kade Simpson - Draft pick #45 !!!

I have posted this before but how good a pick was Kade Simpson at pick 45 in 2002 draft. Small, light but just an absolute footballer.

Could only listen to the game on the radio (ABC) and they had him BOG (some had Judd).

Again - who made this pick ? O'Sullivan, Hughes or guy before him ??

I recall in the lead up to that draft that Matt Burgan had Simpson in his top 20, so it was a bit of a surprise that he dropped to #45. Perhaps it might have had something to do with his very very skinny frame at the time.

Hasn't had the best year has Simmo. Not sure why, but just hasn't been overly good. But seems to be hitting some form over the past few games.

For those who get annoyed at Kade getting run down and pinged for holding it, remember back a few years ago, I think it was 06? Mentioned that the coaches had told him to back himself no matter what, and try to use his pace and take the opposition on. Have to say I'm all for that attitude as well. Might not come off all the time, but when it does, its brilliant! Same goes for blokes like Bower and Armfield too.

To get him at pick 45 and fisher at 72 were two bargains in that draft, considering we were robbed of the early picks. Is one of my fav players, no doubt.

Just about him being better than Walker, at this he might be. By the end of next year however, Walker will be in our top 5 IMO. Got a feeling that he might just EXPLODE!

Forget about comparing Simmo to Walker. I prefer this comparison:

2001 AFL National Draft

Pick #1 - Brendon Goddard
Pick #2 - Daniel Wells
_______________________

Pick #45 - Kade Simpson
Pick #72 - Brad Fisher

Simmo and Fisher are light years ahead of Goddard (injury prone) and Wells (soft, inconsistent and unreliable).
