Averaged the most posessions for you lot last year. But is often considered the third and sometimes the fourth best that you had??????? Macleod aside who is better and why???????

As a midfielder i rated Kane equal 2nd with Simon Goodwin behind Macleod last year as well as in previous years & he will be missed by us in the coming season, good luck to him in his new club & i'm sure the Tigers will be very happy in his style of play,

McLeod, Edwards, Ricciuto and Goodwin all got more disposals than Johnson.

Hart then Tyson Edwards were the leaders in the club best & fairest, but I don't know who next after that.

Hart & Ricciuto both won All-Australian selection for 2002.

McLeod, Ricciuto & Goodwin are All-Australian midfielders all ranked ahead of Johnson. Not much in it though as Sugar is a class act & had a great 1st half of 2002 (was arguably our best). I wouldn't have Edwards ranked ahead of Sugar.

Interesting. Edwards got more possesion than Johnson last year, Edwards scored more goals and Edwards came second on Crows best & fairest, 16 votes behind the winner Ben Hart. Johnson did very well in the first part of the year (possibly Crows best) but didn't really sustain that form through the whole year. Johnson is a lot harder to keep on the track than Edwards is. Personally I'd have Edwards at least on a par with Johnson, if not ahead of him.

It not a matter at who stays on the field longer or who gets more possesions but rather at what impact does the player have while on the ground. While Edwards has played mainly as a HB flanker and probably had less chance to shape the game as a playmaker, Johnson played on the ball and provided a lot of clearences and hard ball gets.

This is how I would rate Johnson:

Andrew McLeod
Mark Ricciuto
Simon Goodwin
Kane Johnson.

I hope that either Begley or Reilly step up and take over from Kane as they are all of similar height.;)

As for nut , I think Kane will be a very good pick up for you guys. I have hoped he stayed but unfortunately he decided to go. I personally would rate him as your best midfielder as he is able to get his own ball and uses it to advantage. I hope I don't pi ss you off with this statement, but IMHO Campbell gets the ball but doesn't really hurt you with it while the likes of Bowden are just runners who pick up reasonably easy touches.

Peace!!!!;)

Thanks for the info on him.
Agreed with your judgement on campbell. But to be a good midfielder you neeed good players around you. With Johnson, Blumfield and Coughlan improving he will have players around him. If they gel then I think our midfield problems are past us and look forward to playing you guys in the finals. ( picked you guy's to finish first after the H&W)
As for bowden he has lost the plot in recent times. Used to be a hard nut but has soften up since his shoulder injuries. His greatest asset (kicking) is also letting him down as well.
Amazing what fresh competition around the place does to a players concentration and skill level.
