Kane Lucas looks good but i will note on his disposal ive counted 4 times in the two games ive seen him play for the Blues where he has turned it over clean to the other side. Not just a bad disposal thats resulted in a turnover, i mean a direct handball or kick right on the chest of the opposition, 3 of these resulted in direct goals against us.

Im not poo-pooing the guy, im not sure what the issue is here whether hes pannicking or his decision making isnt sound. I hope its the former because he does have a lot of time when he has the ball and i think hes rushing things a little bit. Maybe just early nerves. He did kick a very good goal on the run against West Coast so he knows how to finish.

There is plenty of upside to him and look forward to seeing him progress.

I love a lot of what I've heard about him, but I noticed this in the youtube clips I watched of him prior to the draft. I actually posted somewhere that he was the player I didn't want us to pick, for that reason.

Let's hope he works hard on it.

Can't see him lining up for the senior team in round 1, especially seeing as though he didn't play this afternoon.

As for the comment about 4 turnovers in 2 games....let's not get too over the top with concern about that. 2 turnovers per game - hardly an alarming statistic for someone that's only played a few practise matches since being drafted.

I'm more concerned on player who have played 20+ games and keep doing turnovers.

No doubting he has worked very hard this preseason, but my point stands.

Friday's game against the Crows was pretty much a dress-rehearsal for round 1, IMO. I know Judd won't be there but I don't think Lucas will be first in line to replace him.

Kane didn't feature and I can't see him running out with the senior team in round 1 against Richmond.

Let him work hard on his game and try break through as the season goes on, rather than throwing him into the deep end straight away.

after being in WA rumour has it

homesick

Um, no.

Nowhere near as classy in close or as good at disposing. More of a quantity over quality type who is pretty outside.

Looks like I'm not the only one who thinks he is like Pendelbury. Just saw this on the AFL website. Best first year DT players.

7. Kane Lucas
Lucas was the third-best performing player at the 2009 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships averaging 85 points per match. Likened to a Scott Pendlebury, he averaged 21 disposals and six marks per match at the carnival and looked extremely impressive. Carlton's midfield is already brimming with talent, so the West Australian’s acquisition will add more depth to an already strong group. He will definitely get games this year, but he may not set the world on fire considering he struggled with the step up to WAFL seniors last season.

Think he will play a few games this year. Handy utility so if the likes of a Robinson, Houlihan or Scotland go down, he woudnt be out of place filling in one of their places. Hope to see him in the Ants most of the year though, and bring him in when he is ready to compete. Always good to give him a taste but he really will need to earn his spot.

Sure but this group will be heaps more entertaining than Digby and co of recent times. Worth a Sunday trip down to Preston Market no question.

Absolutely. The Ants will have a number of players i'm pretty keen on having a look at this year. Will you bring the thermus, or should Splendini bring it?

He'll be watching the ducks at the Botanical Gardens, hand in hand with what's-her-name.

Sounds about right actually. Bet you he'd be too tight to take a few slices of bread down there to feed the ducks as well.
