Apparently set a draft combine record of 16.2 in the beeb test, 2.86 seconds in the 20mtr sprint and scored a 28 out of 30 in the handball exercise.

I know alot of people have brought up Luke Blackwell's name on here as a possible mature age player but having seen a fair bit of WAFL this year I would much rather take Kane. He is obviously an elite runner and from by all reports a complete professional in regards to his training. The other positive is his age as he is only 22.

I reckon the mob up the road could be sniffing on this one too so would we be prepared to use a national draft selection in order to secure him.
 
I go to uni with the guy, very hard working, genuine guy.

Haven't seen him play, but from what I've heard, he's an alright find.

Would be interested in someone's analysis?
 
Played in our last intra-club game if I'm not mistaken, so I'd assume we've had a good look at him.

I should have said equalled, didnt know it was with Hill jnr though. The worst did say 16.2 but anyway if your scoring above 15 in a beep test you are at a AFL running level.
 
Only 176cm and can't kick despite his other excellent qualities of a phenom tank and attack on the footy / ball carrier. De Boer would be the closest analogy, but he is 189.

I feel you can lack one quality and make it as an AFL footballer, but only one (De Boer: Can't kick: all other physical / mental skills average or above, Johnson: Soft: all other skills etc. Duffield: Poor contested marking / one on one skills, all other skills etc.).

Agree with this.

I've seen him a few times and he only stands out for mine because of his long hair and uncanny resemblance to Darrel Panizza. A slightly faster more aggressive version of Schammer. He's ok, but not AFL standard IHO.

I think it's more like above 14 is AFL level. Above 15 is rare and there would be a large number of AFL players who can't run a above 15 beep test. I said it in the other thread but we in this thin draft we should use our picks 16,20 and 29 on best available and KP talent and the and the later picks on the younger but still mature age players floating around. There are a lot of good players running around the state leagues.
 
Im obviously a massive Mitchell fan... there wouldnt be a fitter bloke running around in the WAFL, and no one gives more for their club / team.

Has AFL quality hands and is tough as old boots... his size and disposal by foot (penetration as well as accuracy) are his obvious shortcomings, but would still rather have on the list instead of the likes of Crowley, JVB, Pearce etc.. late pick or Rookie.. get it done :thumbsu:

I'm a Claremont supporter & have been to about 6 games this season...I love the guy, never stops trying - great tank...but doubt his impact in an Afl side. Would be a similar type to Tom Alvin with the hair & actually very similar the way he kicks/runs......can Tom Alvin play in 2012? Not sure. Certainly knows how to get the ball though....maybe worth a rookie shot for sure.

Whoever does pick him up, will know they are getting a 110% committed player who knows how to find the footy...of course getting the footy & using it on the big stage is another kettle of fish.

Personally...Luke Blackwell is twice the player Kane is...& I cannot believe he isn't being talked about more in Afl circles....will be spewing if we don't pick him up....a class act in the Wafl...disposal is 1st class & ball magnet & can keep his feet.
 
...while we're on the matter of Claremont players...I've changed my mind on Tom Lee since July...last 2 months of year were 1st class...deserves a chance.

& if we're after a speedy player to play around half forward, forward pocket...we should be looking at Alroy Gilligan from the Tigers...had a far superior year to the Eagles listed players Weedon & Broome...better hands, similar speed, can take a mark & better still, Alroy can actually find the footy.
 
Alroy is a very nice looking player but you would only use a mid to late rookie on him because there's always a few younger people who can play that role later in the draft imo

Saw him in the WAFL grand final and he is just a battler who can't dispose of the ball by foot. No thankyou, though i hope he gets a chance with someone else because from all reports he's a good character

Agreed....but would be awesome rookie selection...still alot of upside
