People believe in it, because if they do something bad, something bad happens to them down the tarck, and they say it is "Karma"

But, what makes that illogical, is that after your intial bad act, several "good" things may happen to you, but you forget about them, because they destroy the myth of "karma." The theory of karma can only exist if something bad happens to you after you have committed a bad act, so if something good happens to you in between, you ignore it, because it destoys the theory.

The reality is that over a period of time, several good things and bad thigns will happen to you. Just because you committed an evil act, and somethign bad happens to you, doesn't mean that its God's way of gettign revenge. Whatever happened to you, would probaly have happendd anyway.

There are so many good and bad thigns that happen to us, that we can always justify ridiculous thigns like "Karma," simply through the masive amount of good and bad experiences that we have. Karma is a means of taking an event and justifying something that has already happened in the past and connecting it with that event. But you can pick and choose what events you want to include, so you can only include good events, and karma won't exist.

If good things come to those who are good to others, it's usually because they earnt it. Others are good to them, due to the kindness they give out themselves. Karma is different, because it assumes something flukily happens to make up for a past deed, which is rubbish.

It's got nothing to do with some mystical energy force brought down on you by God. :rolleyes:

Obviously, if you're good and kind, you are going to get some benefits out of that, but those benefits are from your own doing. Those benefits aren't "flukes" - they have NOTHING to do with a supernatural force that controls your destiny. That's crap.

Karma assumes a "fluke" (i.e something just magically happens, based on a previous good deed) benefit, which is a supernatural benefit delivered by God, which is horsecrap.

I don't believe in karma. How would karma explain the way sometimes all the luck falls the way of the nastiest people? Or how some people can have terrible lives from the word go? Nor do I believe that there's anything "logical" behind what controls our so-called "destinies". Logic is boring, and life isn't, so how can life be controlled by logic?

However I do believe in similar things, such as "all bad things happen for a reason." not a predetermined reason, but bad things nearly always serve to make people stronger, and bring better things into their lives. Unless, of course they're killed, and whether you're religious or not, that's not necessarily bad. If God exists the way the bible might suggest then there's heaven to look forward to. And if He doesn't, well then, there's nothing to suffer, so it's not a bad thing. Only, perhaps a lack of a good thing.

I'd like to believe in it, but the reality is that you make things happen for yourself. Directly or indirectly, it is up to you what happens, whether it is good or bad.

Karma is an idealistic process of belief for those looking for cheap answers for things that happen. If karma existed, we'd all be working in soup kitchens for the homeless, but I'm at home playing Championship Manager and studying for a Physical Education SAC while thinking about how I can get out of class early.

Total crap. And all this living proof stuff is gay, you choose your own path with your life. Karma doesn't exist.

No it doesnt Rohan. Im one of the nicest people you could meet, I havent had any karma that some of the things that have happened to me would be deserved (talking bad karma here).

I believe you should try and be decent in what you do and your dealings with others basically because I cling to the hope that it is the right course of action that anyone should take with their lives.

But karma? I have copped way to much pain for what reason I cannot fathom to believe in karma. If it did/does exsist I must have been Hitler in a past life (or John Wren at least).
