Pretty much. Plus he has been in the worst few every week. Most players have bad games, he just does it every week.He isn't being paid for his ability.
Can someone tell me, has he been worst on ground in any Suns game yet?

His job is to nullify his opponent, not rack up possesions. He is better one on one than Bret Thornton for example.
It's one of easier gigs to learn on the field. "Don't let that guy get the ball, follow him everywhere". It requires little skill and is totally reactive.
Hopefully the plan is for him to learn what the forwards do, where they lead, what they do to him etc and then put him forward. I don't think he is fast or fit enough to play on the ball.
Having him in such a negative role is a good gradient for him to learn the game but it is also negative in regards to public perception. He does seem shit because he never gets a touch.

Mike Pyke also came to the Swans at 24, so I am not sure why anybody is claiming Hunt is too old.
Exactly. The best comparison is Pyke. When Pyke was first on the scene, he was useless around the ground, and a passable tap ruckman. He wasn't really AFL standard. Hunt is at a similar stage: he's useless around the ground, but is a passable spoiler. Last year, Pyke was passably AFL standard, but not great. This year, he's considered better than Premiership ruckman Mark Seaby, and is still improving.
Now, if Hunt follows a similar trajectory, and is better than a Premiership full-back/back pocket in 2 years, I'd say the experiment has been a success.

The suns are a developing side, this year is going to be a hard slog for them, judging Hunt (or any of their other inexperienced players) on the basis of their first 7 games is way too harsh, we'll have a clearer picture later in the year, not everyone up there is going to immediately set the world on fire like Matera and Smith have.
Hunt is progressing nicely - has played on a variety of opponents - according to Champion data had only conceded 8 goals to his direct opponent.
.
Thornton tore Hunt to pieces in round 2. Took 11 marks and kicked 4 goals and had one goal assist. Thornton's career goal tally from his previous 162 games spanning 9 seasons was 8 goals. In other words, Bret Thornton increased his career goal tally by 50% in one game playing on Karmichael Hunt!
You're saying that Pyke was terrible and is now ok and given that Hunt is currently terrible, he should therefore also be ok? Not great logic.
I think playing him down back is a learning curve for him, I think he's be great in the middle. Put him in a position where he has to get the ball and get it out or to a team mate, I think his hardness one on one would cause a few problems for the oppostion.
It's the same with Izzy, he should be playing forward not as a backman. Let him lead and take a mark, rather than have him try and stick with a man. They need to be in positive roles, not negative ones.
Every one I've see so far. What has to happen for people to realise he is a dud?
If shutting down a player is as simple as you say why is there only a handful of midfield taggers and defenders who can do it then? His job is to nullify his opponent, not rack up possesions. He is better one on one than Bret Thornton for example.

Even his biggest supporters must concede Hunt is currently in the bottom 10% of AFL players who are getting a regular game, which isn't unexpected. What is a reasonable time frame for him to break out of that bracket?
More disappointing than his form is the amount of people wanting him to fail.

So if you're both right Hunt has only had 4 goals kicked on him since round 2. Not bad for a first year player playing on the number 1 forward alot of the time.

the belief that Hunt's involvement is about playing potential, when in fact it's been driven by the marketing gurus .
The AFL has kind of sold it's soul to promote the game in NSW and QLD.

How ?
he's only had 8 goals directly kicked on him
I don't expect him to set the world on fire, definitely not in a rebounding sense as he has a bad tank, but I think his negating work is coming along well. I think he needs to also work on not going to ground so easily, often he spoils and punches the ball away from the contest but then fails to stay on his feet/provide a 2nd effort.
I tried to confirm those stats as well but has been reprinted by a few different journos all citing Champion Data, so maybe they have stats available to them that we don't. I think it came from Sheahan originally and I'd back him to do his homework. Can you point me to where this stat is available - I've looked but can't find an online source for goals conceded.
Your comment illustrates the rose-coloured glasses that a lot of people have on when it comes to Karmichael Hunt. What about his kicking? And marking? For a rugby player, he doesn't tackle much either (averages 1.4 tackles per game).
