Hunt would just about be the worst tackler the gold caost had this year he barely laid a tackle a game, he should definetly quit when his contract is up he was the worst player in the afl to get regular games this year

Absolute bollocks. I saw him make several tackles that were as good as any in the competition all season. This is just an ignorant post.

Josh Hill, for one, off the top of my head, is a much worse tackler, simply because he has no physical presence to his game at all.

Though his first year was alright. Obviously still not fully adjusted to the game and its intensity but he will adjust. Thought later in the season when he was given some time in the midfield that he really looked like he could play that role on a more regular basis if he could get his fitness levels up. Might have to drop a few kilos to cope with the extra work load but he wasn't bad streaming through the midfield. Can tackle, with his RL background he should be helping the young guys there adopt some of the tackling skills and he tends to be a strong tackler. Next year will be a better indicator of where he is at as an AFL player.

Several tackles ... over a whole season, and replayed over and over to create an illusion he does it all the time. Like that goal he kicked ... anyone would think he booted 80 goals for the year, we just kept seeing the same goal time and time again.

Face it people, he spends most of the game being where the ball isn't, he has no read of the play, and if it was anyone but him, he would have been tossed on the scrap heap after round 3.

Averaged 6-7 possessions a game and yet played for the entire season ... pfffttt!!!!

Karmichael Hunt laid 27 tackles at an average of 1.7 per game for the season, Josh Hill averaged 1.8 per game I think yours was a very ignorant post

I think he is talking about quality...not quantity.

plenty of Crows players plaid tackles - but not many were any good.

Hunt had a positive first year.
Sure at times he looked out of his depth, and his fitness was below par, but considering he played a whole season of NRL, then played Rugby in France, and with a minimal break started playing AFL you can understand that..

As the season went on he really did improve, his endurance improved, he started winning the ball in contested situations, and stopped panicking when he had it.. A good rest, then a proper pre-season will give us all a better idea of his capabilities, and I for one hopes he signs back up with the Suns for another 2 years.. I think he has what it takes to be a solid midfielder there.

How long before he gets dumped?

I'm hesitant to criticise him, and recognise that switching sports was always gonna be difficult for him, but he is that useless right now that Gold Coast are effectively playing with 17 men. He will improve but how long can Gold Coast afford to wait?
There are marketing considerations, but how long can they afford to keep a bush-leaguer in their 22?
I suspect that the day he gets dropped will be the end of his football career.
he'll go till his contract is up then go back to NRL, same with Folau

Bump.

Did well tonight, announced himself as a legitimate AFL player.

Was great to watch him use his strength around packs and gut running to provide sheppards for his team-mates.

Can see him becoming a handy in and under type if he continues his current progression.

Won't be going back to NRL, that's for sure.

Good on him I say :thumbsu:

Was superb and the pleasing thing was that he seemed to ignite his teammates. Money well spent imo

Superb?? He was okay. Lucky he didn't get a chance to kick the ball much. I think the commentators were told to play him up a little.

Probably his best game to date, highlighted by the commentators and balanced by the clangers. There were a couple of times when he didn't look like a rugby player trying to cross over.

I thought he was very good.

Statistics don't tell the full story. His physicality and 1%ers were very good and very important for the GC. He also gathered most of his possessions in heavy traffic, took players on and dished off well.

agreed

did enough to suggest he will be on a list in his own right on a number of clubs rosters.

He was better than quite a few of your blokes.

This. Had a lot more impact than a lot of essendon players in that midfield zaharakis being one who didnt even look like he was out there most of the night.

Was pretty impressive i thought, you can tell he still cant kick though almost always looks for the handball. His physical pressence was clearly the highlight though.

He was very good. When he was getting the ball and putting his body on the line GC were on top, when he dropped off GC dropped off.

Hunt's performance says a lot about the guys attitude and that he's not just at GC to collect a fat check every week.

Hopefully he continues to grow as a footballer and prove his critics wrong:thumbsu:
