What coz he decided to take an asst coaches job in the GV, and not an offer from lancy, he's stuffed lancy around.. It's only Nov 1.. If it was march or April I could understand being upset, but lancy have plenty of time to find someone else. 'Stuffing clubs around' is a bit much I think
 
Just to promote discussion.... A few years ago there was talk of ground rationalisation at local levels with Ardmona using the Mooroopna ground. The idea was to utilise facilities so that the sporting population could have access to better infrastructure. Is there benefit for a few forward thinking clubs through aligning with their GVL neighbour? Is it a sell out to the local towns? Could the Tatura, Kyabram, Mooroopna and Princess Park Ovals be used by district clubs in way that promotes our game? We already see claims that clubs closer to Shepparton have an advantage. Why not park a few minor league clubs in the centre of our larger towns to ensure their long term viability? An existing sporting example is the Karramomus CC who play in Shepparton South. Obviously canteens and bars would need co-operation. Food for thought. Feel free to shoot the idea down...
 
There are plenty of examples where clubs have to share grounds so it's not out of the question. It can become an issue with training, especially when winter sets in and you are trying to keep a decent surface. Some facilities are also owned by other sports such as cricket at some venues. The reverse is what you see at places like Wangaratta and Swan Hill where you have two great ovals and duplicated facilities right next to each other. For the punters -Eagle Farm and Doomben, Ascot and Belmont.

Don't think any of the major league clubs would be for it. Mooroopna's ground gets overworked as it is with all the junior footy that is played there, if your talking training then no one would want to be training under the Cats lights!!. Tat wouldnt allow a small tray truck onto the ground for the KDFL GF to present the Premiers so couldnt see them wanting to allow any other traffic onto the ground:eek:. Deakin has already gone the other way with minimal use allowed from clubs. Actually think crowds and followings would be affected with the older folk not wanting to travel out of town to watch games.

yeah i think so justins been a past player there would understand the club but would need to bring some players with him because he wont have much to play with other wise he be doing it tough

Have heard that he is still looking at the job at Goorambat, personally I can't see him taking on the Ardy job but good luck to them both if he does..
 
Just had a clubs expenditure for the 2013 season come across the news desk. This club didnt win the flag this year and spent in excess of $100,000 on players and a senior coach. Does your league now find itself in a situation where if you don't spend $100,000 plus, you will not be in contention to win a Premiership?

Short term I'd have to say Yes, to win a flag somewhere around the $100,000 mark is going to have to be spent. Stanhope spent more than that this season and didn't win it, they will spend the same or more next year (and have the fundraising in place to do it), so from that, Yes.

"Dollars may have gone up ever so slightly but as I said have still been out chasing players over that time and know what players ask for and what they have been offered by other clubs and $70G is off the mark for 95% of minor league clubs. As Forty one has mentioned, if Stanhope paid out 37G with James in with the side they had, then how could a club justify spending double that?"

Must be an inflationary hotspot at Mainland.:D

Wasn't on the committee when James was there, but 2 years before hand when I was,they spent 30G so adding James to that for 3 games and including inflation, 37G sounds about right. Have seen the figures for this season and they are comfortably over the 100G mark for players, incentives & coach(this would include any payments to the 2nds and 3rds Coach and incentives). This might not have included the Bendigo boys either who I heard were paid from outside the clubs coffers!

Stanhope, Murchison, Violet Town, Nagambie and maybe even Merrigum would have hit your $70G mark in the KDFL, so that's 5 out of 100 minor league clubs gone!!, Mt. Pleasant in the HDFL next season is supposedly going to blow that $70G figure 3 fold. They have put together a war chest to make sure Colbo don't win a flag in their 100th year. $30G just for a non-playing coach in a minor league:eek:. Everyone has gone mad!!!

hey hank how does the committee take it with you telling the public what they have spent or are spending? would of thought maybe that stuff is for behind close doors don't you think?

Not on the committee, and as a figure was again brought up about clubs expenditures, as I have seen the AGM general Account sheet which was shown to me by someone who isn't on the committee and wasn't at the AGM, I thought it was worth sharing on here some facts instead of rumour;). In the past people have thrown figures around, I assume without actually knowing (as I have with Mt. Pleasant), seeing I had them right in front of me it was worth putting some of it out there. As for divulging what the club spent in 2005, the committee from back then wouldn't have a problem letting it out as it was a great effort to be only spending that amount with the side we were putting on the park!

So it would be fair to say it was Stanhopes figures that were rolled across Heraldsun's desk.

Who know's, you weren't thinking they were sounding a lot like VT's were you jaxbac?;), but yeah there was a few in the cricket rooms when the AGM sheet was floated around for all to look at!!

Just doing some research on our mate from the Herald-sun (trying to get a hold on who he is?) and he had figures for you guys and Nagambie in 2012 so maybe it isn't Stanhope and its one of those two clubs, both could possibly fit the BILL!!
 
Unfortunately for your smear campaign and trying to make the Stanhope Football Club look bad Hank you haven't consumed the information quite right as I had the sheet explained to me. There was one colum that noted that player payments for the year. another which noted Incentives which was reserves coaches and players, 3rds coaches and players and netball incentives as well I was told it didn't involve senior incentives, in another colum it noted Coaches and Trainers in together I'm not sure why it was listed like that. The paid players colum was closer to 80 than 90 and the Coaches combined didn't hit 100k so any referring to well over 100k and similar payments to Violet Town would be a big exaggeration. We won 3 finals and jumped 7 spots on the ladder and the Club is financial.

At a guessing point Violet Town would have hit 150k this year and Murchison 120k with Stanhope and Merrigum the next bracket back those Club's all needed to that and Nagambie are fortunate with all their good locals. Club's have varying local bases and fundraising capacities and unfortunately our local base at Stanhope isn't near what it use to be. The Kyabram League has been sheltered from spending but that was always going to change because when the surrounding competitions have so much money you are in competition with them to gain the player. The word on the street is that Lancaster are making some attractive offers to players more so than I've heard in previous years so they are adjusting themselves to try and get back in flag contention as well and the likes of Longwood, Ardmona and Avenel are making decent rises to their budgets as well apparently.
