I realise Tambling made a couple of mistakes but he outweighed it with some good work out of defence, He looks to play with a bit of purpose down back and should be persevered with, more experience in that posi and working with same group of defenders ea week will see him grow and be a better prospect than an inconsistent midfielder:thumbsu:

Agreed. He doesn't look as lost when he is down back and uses his pace well out of the back half. People are saying he was crap last night because of how many times he tried to take the game on but isn't that what we want young players to do?

the pressure that the Cats apply is in the red zone, I would defy any $%#$ to play a flawless game running the pill out of defence. Any detracters that care to line up, name me the last opposition player v Geelong that had 24 possies out of defence and didnt make a mistake:eek:...I'll hang by the short and curlies until i hear the answer

thank %#$& for that boody, agreed, I can see a permanent spot for him running out of defence linking with Thursty, Moore and cool hand luke, must stay there

Disagree.

Tambling needs to return to the midfield asap.

He played on a wing during the 1st quarter last night and dominated, therefore he is playing better because he feels comfortable out there now, not because of his position.

disagree with that, playing in the back half is a different ball game and for those a little less creative in their play, it guides them to the pill, thats what i mean more purpose in his play...last 2 games have been possession highs for RT, he can sharpen up a bit but I am seeing someone who will be able to make a real impact down there

At least we all agree that he has a future role in the firsts! He is getting an awful lot of ball lately.

Turnovers are a big issue for him. Also, his shots on goal are frustrating. Against Essendon I counted at least 2 where he was clear, 40 metres out and sprayed the shots.

Anyone here remember seeing him in TAC/U18s? By all accounts he always got a lot of ball at that level, but the question is: Did he have a higher disposal efficiency rate at that level? If so, then he really does need to learn to suck up the pressure and actually start hitting the target. Personally I think he needs some personal practice time at just going 100% pace and hitting targets.

His performances at U18 in Darwin were probably a tad overrated given the depth of local talent would barely extend beyond 4 -5 players in ea side..In any case he's coming along ok and i reckon this is his spot

What simular role to wirrapunda for Eagles BO.?

Same as:
Mcleod for Adelaide???

what was the go with all the tigs missing targets by foot and hand??? I thought we were past that!!!!!
Tambling will b awesome if sheedy returns as he is very good with indigenous talent...

I think, like Gibbs did with Carlton, he should be played back until he gets confidence, fitness etc...then put him in the midfield (maybe not tagging like Gibbs...just a midfielder)

Thats my take anyway :thumbsu:

Doesn't really matter where we play him at this stage Bo - HBF, HFF, wing - as long as he's being rotated through the centre for short spells each game. He's shown enough glimpses of having that very rare combination of inside ball winning ability, explosive pace, ball carrying ability and good skills. He WILL be a very good midfielder, he's just a couple of years away from getting the right physique and confidence to tear games apart.

Deledio was miles ahead of him on the above when they were drafted, but he's really only started to show something in the guts this year - and he's still got a long way to go yet.

Tuck and Foley are still yet to peak as players, let alone our 20/21yo kids. Tambling may look like he's running just as well as he did at the beginning of the season, but like many of our kids who have had breakout seasons compared to past efforts, he's got to the stage where he's bordering on mental exhaustion and it's showing with his skills.

Not even Tuck has played 100 games yet and it really does take that long to reach the next level - where you can be fully 'up' for 40+ weeks a year, keep concentrating for entire games, and have the fitness base to set up good, consistent seasons.

The bombers are full of under achieving indigenous talent so I am not so sure about that.
