Am I the only one who wants to keep Brad Dick?

He would obviously need to improve his strength to play AFL but is probably the most talented natural crumber on our list, in front of Krak.

I'd prefer to have no Dick to no McCafe

Forgive me if this observation has already been made but I watched "The Road to Victory - 2010" tonight, in the absence of Fri Night Footy fix. A few things immediately jumped out with Collingwood 2010 compared to the side during the second half of this year:

1. Gigantic week in/week out performances from Didak - linking, distributing, finishing

2. Much greater vigour from Leigh Brown and Jolly

3. Useful and dangerous contribution from Caff as a forward 50 foil

Given that the first 2 issues may be beyond our control, depending upon age, injury status etc. I'm hoping - WE KEEP THE CAFF!!!!! What are they thinking?! Give the boy some lovin.

So does your source reveal what is happening?

Want to stay, loves the club but wants to get some incentives included in his contract re: games played and also contract length but the club is holding firm. He has to decide whether to take the deal and back himself in or go into the draft, he isn't keen on heading interstate and there has been offers from Vic clubs but whether he'll get to their picks is the worry.

It's an interesting one that I can see go either way. Obviously our best result is to sign him for 12 months. But I still think that something will have to give in 2012 and we will face the same situation again. We will lose at least one, possibly two players for more money.

It may well be that you are the only one wanting to give dick another chance. The guy can play but just keeps injuring himself.

Yes, the club has to re-sign both Cloke & Pendles by end 2012. Both will be targets of GWS & Cloke is also open to Free Agency offers from other clubs (that CFC can match, as he will be a resticted free agent). Hence enormous pressure on Collingwood'S TPP/Salary Cap next year.
We will lose players by end 2012 if we do re-sign those two (although likely retirements of Davis, Johnson & perhaps maybe Tarrant/Krak/Jolly??).
However I hope that Caff accepts the contract on offer, we need him in 2012.

I also would love to give Dick another chance (we did with Rusling), however we are facing huge salary cap pressure & something has to give.
If it was a choice of Dick or Caff, I would keep Caff.

Davis, Johnno will help with the cap somewhat but not a huge amount. Unsure if Tarant, Jolly or Krak will retire also. We just need to make sure the our top tier players like Pendles and Cloke don't try and squeeze every cent out of the club. We need them to take a bit of a cut so we can use that money on the Shaws, Wellinghams, Sidebottoms, Beams, Brown, Reid etc

I think Wellingham is the one that may be lost to us. I think clubs will offer him big $$ at the end of 2012.

Krakouer won't retire, he's 29 at the start of next year, he'll have more games in him for sure. A lot comes down to whether players want to sign for less and go for premierships. It's not that uncommon, Brisbane did it and Geelong has been signing players for less as well. You're bound to lose a player or two but usually it's fringe player, like for us McCarthy & Macaffer are considering their options.
