With Rance showing he can play down back and Thursty not playing today,is it an option to look at playing Kelvin Moore in the forward line.Took a nice mark there today but failed to convert.
However he is a good mark and uses his body well and is agile.
Might be worth a punt.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Nice thought....I thought the same thing when I saw Moore take that grab.
I'd rather see him play there than Schulz. And runs better too. More aerobic.
Plays taller, moves better, and Schulz has terminal 'yips'.

Get Moore kicking for goal now at training.

Moore can't kick for goal for peanuts. Train Schulz to be Full Forward. We know he has the talent to be FF, just needs more practice being the main focal point.

He is a shocking kick for goal. Although wasn't he drafted as a forward?

Good in the back half. Keep him there. Sarge will play up there for most of the season and give Cleve a run. We really need a FF.

Technically he was drafted as a forward, but really, he was drafted because of his athletic ability, was VERY fast as a junior, something like 10 seconds for 100m.

As far as him being a forward from now on, well you only need to look at his shooting at goal today and that infamous shot against the Saints.

We ARE that desperate for a big power forward. Riewoldt isn't bulky enough just yet and Morton is too small. When Richo went the wing in the Geelong match the ball was rebounded out of our forward line faster than it went in and when he went to CHF/FF we looked a much better team. The fact we are still relying on the 34 year old to take big contested marks to win us matches is a worrying sign, someone has to step up and so far Schulz has been ordinary to say the least in both matches.

Come on rfcta,
Where you been all these years?
The only thing we haven't trained Schulz to be in AFL Football is the Footy Record seller in front of Gate 6 at the 'G'.

Schulz has had MORE THAN his fair share everywhere on the ground and he looks comfortable...nowhere!

Other teammates have to try too hard to make Schulz look good.
It's about time he did something. Can't be spoon fed all his career.

The game's that interchangeable now, that all our backline should be trained to kick for goals.
Schulz isn't the answer. Bar the big grab every blue moon  everything about Schulz on the field is small. He plays small and thinks small.

Yippo Man!

Rance to the wing would be a good move. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: What did people think of his performance today. A little shakey?..He certainly doesnt look out of place though at the top level. Not intimidated.
I think the tall roving winger role Richo patented in 2008 is ideal for guys like schulz, rance and post when he comes through. I didn't see yesterday's game but I've always thought Richo up forward as a target (as we started Q4 yesterday) gives our forward line too much of a one-dimensional look. The Riewoldt-Morton-Schulz set up with Richo/Simmo as a bonus marking option works better. Plus Richo is a better kick for goal from 40-50m than he is from 20-30m. Think Hughes will get his chance up forward within next month, which will release Schulz.

Schulz one wing, Richo the other wing:thumbsu:
Moore takes the opposition tall forward/resting ruck:thumbsu:
Rance replaces McMuffin:thumbsu:

schulz you really have to step up now or your gone. if he fails to deliver this week and next try post/vickery/hughes/gourdis. someone just needs to make that spot theres.

might be a case of robbing peter to pay paul, but a defensively minded full forward with plenty of pace, the ability to mark and a bit of hardness might be a good idea. played forward a bit early in his career and can kick a goal, just might be a bit rusty :D

Fair enough points made delib. :thumbsu:

I just think that Schulz was a natural Full Forward until we tried to turn him into something hes not.

Heres my little timeline.. (but chf looking up dates, so its just numbered ;))

1. Schulz couldn't get much opportunity being second to Richo at Full Forward. Didn't get much delivery. I know it has a bit oif wank factor, but he did kick 6 goals in one of the only games when Richo was out being the main target.
2. Schulz later moved to the backline to fill a hole. So, he did training for a few seasons becoming a backman.
3. Became a reasonable backman and then when Richo got 'promoted' to the wing, we found out we didn't have any forward options.
4. So, after being trained as a backman and asked to play as a backman now he isn't so much of a natural forward. Instead, he kicks like a backman (remember... he never used to MISS!) and can't kick a goal.

I'm wanting Richmond to persist with him as a FF. Its worth a shot because you'd have to be blind not to see that a bit of potential is there to take on the role. Who else are you going to put there? Hughes? Pattison ? MOORE?!... the list goes on.

I think Post has the same sort of potential that Schulz had early in his career but in a different style.

I'm a Hughes fan. I think hes got talent too however he's a little girl. At least Schulz tends to crash packs and give Morton, Nahas, Brown etc the opportunities at ground level. Sure, rather him marking and goaling, but can you imagine Hughes doing that?

Thats my thoughts anyway.

if you want a big strong bodied lightning quick leading fwd who has the tools to run down anybody look no further than Gourdis. Pity he cant get his shit together, someone should get in his ear, take your chance now bc there is a spot available now!

Hughes straightens us up but has to show he can chase tackle, schulz isnt setting the world on fire but hes contributing 2-3 a week (including assists) and does tackle , block and throw his body around. Post and Vickery simply arent quite ready, give them a good solid 6-8 games at coburg and things may change.

no way !! are you mad ? kel is our best defender. first step to building a contending side is to have a solid defence. im loving having the likes of moore , thursfield & mcguane down there. actually disappointed that thursfield was dropped. he had a bad game last week but was not alone there. baffles me how mcmuffin can keep getting a game but wallace was so quick to pull the trigger on thursfield.

with his kicking that would be like suggesting Mr Magoo take up a job as linesman come wimbledon...No thx...just on Kel...he needs to pull his finger out, coasting at the minute not giving us the drive he did last year...Perhaps he's playing more defensive...was he on Tom Hawkins?

our best defender last year after 2 games u want him moved to ff
unbelievable.
