yep, it's a joke.

it certainly seems like there's 2 divisions with the 16 teams with odi status without the ICC saying so. and yet these records still stand - crazy!

australia's is 21 with 2nd place on 12 wins.

kenya is currently on 7 (bermuda, bermuda, bermuda, scotland, scotland, canada, bermuda)

*with netherlands, ireland, scotland and canada up next and then the final

they will lose a game to New Zealand in the world cup

I wouldn't be so sure, Bond could get injured again, Fleming is horribly out of form, Taylor and Oram can't make all the runs and take wickets along with Vettori... Kenya are a big chance to knock off New Zealand

yet Jon Davison was man of the match

Obviously it's not like the sim which favours the winning team for MOTM's...

It's hard to say if he deserved to be MOTM or not, if Canada had of scored 60 more runs, a West Indian probably would have gone to score to a century, off about 70 balls or even less... but in the end, they didn't, Davison was the only century maker in the game.

He also bowled his 5 overs for 36 runs (7.2 p/o), and also picked up 1 wicket. Which compared to the other bowlers, who were going at 11, 26, 9's, etc. etc.

Although Hinds did bowl 4 overs for 19 (almost 5 p/o) and picked up two wickets, and Hinds made 64 off 31... Hinds has a claim for being MOTM, (the wicket of Davison) and he also played a part in a run out

There's always at least one case of a smaller beating a bigger one in the World Cup (Zimbabwe defeating Australia in 1983 & Bangladesh beating Pakistan in 1999), and they do have some guys who can really play ( Batsman,Steven Tikolo being the best example), and I wouldn't put it past the Kenyans beating England, provided that Pietersen doesn't cut loose.

But anyway, Kenya is the best chance of all the Affiliate Nations in going beyond the Group Stage.

Can anyone tell me who are in the 4 groups, I know that Australia has South Africa & Scotland (I don't know the others), but does anyone know what teams are in which group ?.

GROUP A GROUP B GROUP C GROUP D
Australia Bangladesh Canada Ireland
South Africa Bermuda England Pakistan
Netherlands India Kenya West Indies
Scotland Sri Lanka New Zealand Zimbabwe

Minnow victories over Test playing nations at the World Cup

1975 - none

1979 - Sril Lanka def India by 47 runs (SL Test nation in 1982)

1983 - Zimbabwe def Australia by 13 runs (Zim Test nation in 1992)

1987 - none

1992 - Zimbabwe def England by 9 runs (Test nation later that year)

1996 - Kenya def West Indies by 73 runs

1999 - Bangladesh def Pakistan by 62 runs

2003 - Canada def Bangladesh by 60 runs
2003 - Kenya def Sri Lanka by 53 runs
2003 - Kenya def Bangladesh by 32 runs (technically, it counts!)
2003 - Kenya def Zimbabwe by 7 wickets

Chances are, it should happen again, but the only real chances I can see is Netherlands over South Africa and Kenya over England, maybe the Kiwis. Unless Pakistan pull a dodgy one vs Ireland

With a population of 32 million you might expect Kenya to be eventually competitive, poverty notwithstanding. They always look so enthusiastic in the field when you seem them play too.

I'm not convinced the Dutch will beat South Africa despite what people believe. I think Kenya is the best chance as a minnow nation of an upset. Bermuda has the odd quick if they inserted the opposition on a greentop. Can't really see one of the weaker associates getting up unless there's some dodgy business going on.

Kenya are in with Canada, NZ and England- have to think they are a good chance to get to the second round....unless canada upsets them....

Beware... John Davison..

I think Kenya are a real chance. Obviously wont win the final but I think they'll do better than last time. They've thumped Bermuda (I know, they're crap) by 9 and 10 wickets I think? And they've just polished off Scotland as well. Not exactly quality teams but you still have to be focussed and defeat them and Kenya are doing it no worries at the moment :thumbsu:
