Roast Key Defenders

They are a real worry. All of Frost,Keeffe and Brown where well beaten.

Yes I know there was not Real Effort by the Boys but still I felt that was a big worry how well they where beaten.

Hope they improve in the Season Proper or we could have some Trouble there

They are probably 2-3 years away from playing at their best together, Frawley would be a good investment.

Would be a Fantastic Get and would make sure Reid stays up Forward Permanently

If Frawley leaves Melbourne it will be for a club in a Premiership window, we are no chance.

Well we could say we are heading into the That Window and he will make it even closer

Just mentioned in an earlier post, Reid on the No1 forward, Keefe on the No2 forward. Frost no good, Brown scrags and holds, gives away too many free kicks. Maxwell will play down back all year, Clarke wont. Cloke, White and a resting Grundy all need to kick goals to allow Reid to stay back. Lynch looks too slow, both of foot and mind dont think there is a spot for him

Agreed, we are absolutely shambles and Buckley should have never been made the coach wish we had Mick back or grabbed Roos when we could have.

Just kidding, I personally think this will be our best year since 2012. Think we will finish 5th and may just slide into the top 4, you gotta remember what we saw today was just a practice match and we lost our practice matches in 2010 yet still won the premership, all good sides start a bit slow but they learn from their mistakes wait and see 2014 will be a good year.

Was Lynch playing?! We can't move Reid back because he is the only reliable tall forward we have. Cloke can mark but has problems doing much more than grab the ball. I thought Frost was an OK player - until today. Our mid-fielders didn't help the defence with the lack of pressure on their opponents. Keeffe was non-existent and seriously overrated as the main CHB. He does not have the physical presence to play on the gorillas of the game.

I think Lukey Ball looks a little slower and his foot skills were poor today. I'm still waiting to see Mooney give a glimpse of the pace and athleticism we heard so much about. He still looks very raw and all at sea. Armstrong doesn't look a likely starter when the real stuff begins.

Very harsh on Cloke no a great kick but still one of the best tall forwards in the comp. Look Frost will be a good 3 tall, Brown I think gets a raw deal from the fans gets the job done most weeks and Keeffe is good when he doesn't need to compete one on one. He needs to be given time to fill out.

And we flogged all the teams in the 2011 nab cup yet lost the flag moral of the story is that you don't want to peak to early

Didn't see the game so just going on a few stats atm....but how many goals did their key forwards kick on Brown and Keeffe? From what I hear it was midfielders and flankers kicking a lot. Also Bucks said that Fasolo did ok down there (back) and that it would be something they might keep going into the season.

The best defenses never play anywhere near their potential when they are missing so many players as we were tonight.

Add Toovey, Maxwell, Brown (first game back tonight), Goldsack (didn't have an impact at all), Williams and maybe Seedsman and Sinclair and you all of a sudden it's a different defensive 6-8 players altogether.

It was Brown's first real hitout of the season, and he was always going to be scratchy, and the other 2 (Frost and Keeffe) are still inexperienced defenders.

No real concern for me, yes we have to improve in this area on tonight's showing, but if we can get our best defensive set playing together by round 1 Freo will help us with their over defensive gameplan anyway.

I would like to see Fas play on the forward flank

I think he will get a bit of time there this season. But I like the flexibility he provides if he can start back and use his foot skills and decision making to set up play from behind centre. He can always shift forward and kick a couple if we need him to.

That is true, I thought his first half was really impressive but his second half not so much but that happens when it is your first game in 12 months

Why are we over thinking these weird practice matches?
From what I have seen , our players are stronger, faster, quicker....NOW, I want to see more accurate.

We were pretty accurate today.

I will be honest, I was unable to throw my kids under the bed, tie them up and/or lock the door....so I did not see as much footy today as I generally like to. When they are at a party tomorrow I will vacuum for 1 minute and watch replay for many more :D

The game was called off at 3 quarter time.
