Reportedly (via HoopsHype), at an informal workout at the Pups' home Target Center, 2003 2nd rounder Rick Rickert hit a nifty move to score on Kevin Garnett. Apparently 'not supposed to score' on KG or something, the Big Ticket lands a haymaker on his chin, opening a cut requiring seven stitches and also causing a chipped tooth. Obviously, Rickert is going to have some trouble getting on the TWolves roster when he's not on the best of terms with their franchise player and MVP.

Is that not taking competitiveness so far?

The other version I've heard is Rickert kept setting hard picks on KG, who told him not to, and kept taunting KG if he managed to score. So KG just smacked him.

fair enough then I suppose, but I still wouldn't think that KG would be the kind of guy to do such a thing, he's usually pretty poised.

If KG replaced Duncan they might not have got a medal

Please elaborate as to why having Duncan in the team instead of Garnett would affect medal chances, if there were any two players in the NBA who are similar, you'd put Duncan and Garnett on the list, and the fact that Garnett posted better numbers last season means he'd be a better candidate?

Not really similar players. I cant recall TD going for, or hitting many 3pts before. Also dont recall KG ever being called 'The Big Fundamentals" and actually deserving that nickname. Whilst i wouldnt call KG selfish, TD is the most unselfish superstar in the NBA

The fact that KG pops up three pointers, is what makes him different from Duncan, but look at their numbers, the fact that they both play the power forward position, the fact that they dish out a lot of assists, and the fact that they both have MVP's would make them pretty similar players if you ask me...

Different yet similar is that makes sense :) Garnett is more athletic and quick whereas Duncan uses his fundamentals to score. They both rebound and block extremely well though but its there athleticism that sets them apart. Both absolutely awesome players though.

agreed, and i spose Garnett is leagues better at the free throw line. If you look squarely at their positions and their numbers, they're similar, but agreed that KG is more athletic and a better shooter.
