Jesus...even if Jacobs is just average that makes Sandilands an absolute beast
Why we didn't use jj's athleticism to run Sandi around for a while is a mystery. It's not like jj was dominating up forward or sauce was having a great game. Would like our coaching staff to mix things up when not going to plan.

We've been doing the same thing ever since Sando took over, long bomb to the flank. It's a decent ploy when Tippett is your target, but not Jacobs.

Unfortunately far too often it means we're giving up control of the footy for an at best 50-50 contest, where the most likely outcome is a throw in/ball up 50-60m out from your opposition goal. Hardly what you'd call clever football.

I think it's good as a bail out, but not necessarily as plan A. I think we need to try and get the ball moving faster from kick ins, find the shorter option, then head longer where at least your putting the ball 80-90m out from goal.

Moving the ball faster also has the added benefit of not allowing your opposition a chance to set up defensively and you're more likely to find a loose man to kick to.

This is why Blight was a great coach. I remember games where we were getting smashed so he essentially did a school footy rotation - all backs forward and vice versa.

Yep just another of the why didn't our coaching panel try this instead of just continuing with more of the same?

I just don't understand why we don't change things up when we Plan A is clearly not working - it's not like we have anything to lose & sometimes it may change the course of the game.

I have no confidence in our match day coaching box - if Plan A fails, we have good as lost.

Moving the ball faster to a leading option should be plan A. We have done this successfully when playing well, but unfortunately don't do it enough. We should only be bombing the ball if no other option/under pressure.

As commented above, the kick-in player does not even have a QUICK LOOK left!
With Freo kicking so many points, I had plenty of chances to swear at the TV!!
All I was saying was LEFT! LEFT! LEFT!
At that point everyone else in the house had left.

I couldn't care less if it was the Tooth Fairy kicking it in, it's our bl00dy coaching panel that are responsible for this bottomless pit of Yak Sh*t we're kicking ourselves into, when coming out of Defence.
Sure, players can be responsible for shanking kicks or fumbling the ball, but what's going on with our kick-in strategy....there is no f*****g way our players could repeat that mess so many times - any players....from any club.
And if I recally correctly, there was some similar disease present in the Coaches' Box when Neil Craig was there, where he persisted with Johncock taking the kick-ins, where it clearly wasn't working, even when it cost us goals and games.

And Sando states that our players seem timid and are scared to take the game on...

Are they given ANY freedom to make a smart decision from a kick in; or just constant stupid kicks to the same spot?
