God damn, why do you have to be so negative about everything?
This is how it is. If something is shit, I will say it's shit.

I do not think PS+ is shit as it stands as it does not impede on my playing experience on the PS3 and I can see the value there to someone (as I have said numerous times) who has a keen interest in buying PSN games and either doesn't have the money to constantly do so or someone who has the keen interest and buys PSN games but is looking for a cheaper alternative.

I don't think features such as Party System, Cross Game Chat, Cross Game Invites, do anything to truly elevate a gaming experience to the point I would want to pay $70 a year for it (nor should anyone see it as such).

Understood?

Multiplayer footage. Movement looks cleaner and smoother (seems to be A LOT of auto-aim though).

Maybe I was expecting too much from the trailers but I was disappointed with the KZ3 trailer. I was expecting something epic like the Killzone 2 one:

inFAMOUS 2 sucked as well.

Resistance 3 live action trailer is one of the best game trailers I've ever seen. Music blended in perfectly and the story shown was amazing.

The LBP2 trailer was good as well, better than the last trailer.

48 seconds vs 3 minutes is going to offer up quality differences (take the best 48 seconds from the KZ2 trailer and then you'd see they're much the same really).

Would've liked a beta announcement. But once again there's plenty to find in the MP trailer (and this was most definitely just a teaser). Mech suits, jetpacks (which hadn't been confirmed for MP until now), new XP system, Brutal Melee in MP, big sprawling environments. Sure it was a scattered trailer that wasn't overly concise, but it offered enough IMO.

The Resistance 3 trailer is quite possibly the best game trailer I've ever seen. Could make that thing into a movie on the back of that.

the resistance 3 trailer reminds me of when Neill Blomkamp (District 9) had a crack with Halo..MS and bunjee are douche bags for rejecting him as director.

They didn't reject him. He was actually signed, but 20th Century Fox pulled ther funding and the project died.

A bit of a Q+A with senior multiplayer designer Dan Nanni.
VG247: How radically different is the XP system from Killzone 2 into Killzone 3, via the unlock system?
Dan Nanni: The unlock system is going to be more focused on classes rather then badges. In Killzone 2, we threw some badges and mix and matching and getting details on the customisation. We’re going to be giving you the customisation, but it’s going to be more focused on… this is the Marksman.
And the marksman is really good at preventing people from coming close to him, killing them from long-range, causing a lot of confusion close up, so we’re making his abilities tailored to his specific role on the battlefield. And we’re giving you the ability to unlock him when you want to.
In Killzone 2, we said you’ve got the Sniper character way off at the end, you had to play through everything first before you got to him. Right now, we’re saying if you like the Sniper character, right off the bat, unlock him. It’s your call.
If you don’t like the Medic, you don’t have to unlock him until later on. But then again, if you find out you really do like the Medic, you can start spending your points on Medic. It’s all up to you, under your control.

that was a good read sacka

i'm glad they revamped the unlock system because the fact you couldn't even be a sniper if you wanted until you reached the very end was moronic. (not so much for me as i don't snipe when playing properly, but for fun factor and other players preferences in general)

i actually remember seeing my first sniper in multiplayer and was like wow! cause it took basically a full week to see one due to nobody at that level besides the people playing it full on. (as a tidbit i had, had the sniper unlocked for days **insert nerd face here**)

this game, LBP2 and inFamous2 are clearly my most anticipated games.

Given a release date (for North America at least) of February 22nd.

Also news that Guerilla Games are developing a title outside of the Killzone franchise (wonder what it could be?!).

The company today confirmed the official release date for Killzone 3. The game will ship in North America on February 22, 2011.

The Sony-owned studio announced during GDC Europe it's developing a new PlayStation 3 title separate from the Killzone franchise.
And a Multiplayer preview (with an overview of two new modes, Operations sounds ****en awesome:thumbsu::thumbsu:) as well as a hands-on of the Move controls.

Source: http://au.ps3.ign.com/articles/111/1113945p1.html
The multiplayer of Killzone 3 is similar to that of the previous game (it's still a competitive first-person shooter, after all), but two new modes called Guerilla Warfare and Operations are thrown in to help keep things fresh. Guerilla Warfare is a team deathmatch game that features dynamic spawning (where you spawn all over the map but always close to your team), while Operations is an objective-based game whose major feature is the inclusion of story elements. An Operations match includes several cutscenes that play out as objectives are completed, telling the story of what's going on or occurring as a result of the objective and featuring the best-rated players in the scene. It may not sound all that exciting when you read it, but the hope is that players will really get into competing for the objective so that they can have their few seconds of fame among their peers.

Overall Killzone 3's multiplayer is looking even better than the last, and the last was damn good. Sure, getting Killzone 3 will force you to "start over" and rank up all over again, but with the additions and tweaks they're including, as well as the option to play with the Move, it seems like a pretty easy leap to justify.

I was playing Killzone 2 today and there was 15 people in total playing in Aussie servers. I couldn't even connect because my level wasn't high enough, I hope they fix that for Killzone 3. It's a stupid system.

Fix what? That's a matchmaking precaution. It's like being put on a team of 10th prestiges in MW2 while you've just started the game. You'd get r*ped.

It's stupid, I couldn't play at all because they've put in a level requirement.

How can I build my level up when I can't even play in the first place?

Selecting a different server is your best bet. The chances of you levelling up when you're in a way out-ranked match for your level is so low anyway that the requirement is there for your good.

It won't be the same for Killzone 3 as more people will be playing once we are all getting into it.

The facts are you'd be more pissed off getting r*ped by opponents than getting into the match anyway.

That's what I'm saying though, EVERY server I tried (All five of them, seeing there was only 15 people playing) had the level requirement to join. EVERY server, so I couldn't play online at all.

That is why I'm saying this level requirement to play an online match is ****ing stupid.

And no, I'm more pissed off that I can't even play something I paid for than a chance I might get owned by actually playing.

I meant change the region server. Change it up to US or UK and you'll probably find more matches with no level restrictions.

Also just FWIW your last comment doesn't mean a ton, you payed for the game nearly 2 years ago and didn't play it a whole lot then to get your level up so you would be able to be in those games anyway. And there's not a whole lot of games that still have online communities after almost 2 years too.

since the topic got brought up i actually chucked this game in the ps3 last week and had a go for a little while.

like kerrby said in the local search barely anything came up but changing it to worldwide saw a SHITLOAD of full/near full servers of which to join.
they actually felt barely lagged at all which surprised the hell out of me considering it used to feel lagged as back when i had very good net and heaps of aussies playing.

it's probably mostly in comparison to other games i'm saying it didn't feel too lagged since back with old net on the cods i had absolutely flawless gaming experience while kz2 felt lagged as and now on the cods even on 3 bars i feel massively hamstrung (unstable net :() with the lag and kz2 felt the same as before but less lagged in comparison to what i'm feeling on the cods.

wow i worded that all horribly but i cbf changing it now...point is it was lagged a bit but didn't feel too bad compared to what i feel in the cods on 2-3 bars (which isn't a game where you can play even remotely close to the best of your abilities unless you are 4 bars since it's so fast)

I actually only played KZ2 for the first time yesterday.
Really enjoying it so far. Good AI and good gameplay. And the flamethrower is just awesome. I really dig the industrial setting too.

Looking forward to KZ3.

I've already got my alarm set. :D

Also mentioned in that post is all the Fallout 3 DLC's will be provided free to PS+ users. I might have to get my hands on a copy of the game now.....

I'm now 4 (?) months in and I've already comfortably received two to three times my money back in content, not to mention exlcusive content that could not be gotten without a PS+ subscription (exclusive themes, trials, betas etc). Some of the stuff on offer has not really clicked for me (Zen Pinball, Street Fighter HD Remix, most of the minis (except for Age of Zombies, jeez that was good! :D)) but they to have to try to cater to everyones palette so I don't blame them.

Definitely up for a subscription next year.
