For some reason I feel '****' is more of a derogatory term than 'gay'. **** has always been a pretty crass word, considering that people who are in fact homosexual often identify themselves as "gay".

You will never see anyone identify themselves as a "****".

That said, semantics.

I don't understand how you can't conceed that initially, it looked like he did dive, because it didn't look like Doughty(?) even got near his face. That's why I think this example is a poor example to use, because it seemed like a dive

"initially" it looked like knights fell over and was being a simpering baby (is that derogatory to babies?), I was there.

After the replay everyone could see what actually happened with his knee.
I'm guessing the comment was *before* the replay showing what happened (much like the Schulz indecent)

No one booed or jeered when the stretcher came out. In fact my bay (130) applauded him as he went off so stop trying to compare the 2 events.

Cows were booing Schulz even when it was obvious in the replay he had been injured and still booed him as he was being helped off.

My mate used to always introduce himself as a "resident ****". But that is his right to do so as he is.

That is probably very likely -

I don't actually care that a couple of supporters yelled out derogatory remarks, I'm not going to pretend that it's at all indicative of an entire supporter group, and I haven't had a go at anyone over it. I just thought the obsession over the Schulz incident was a bit odd -

Anyway, carry on -

I think when someone uses a term like '****,' there is usually a separation between what is said and what is meant, but probably not between what is said and what is heard, and that's where people should be more careful. Unless you have half an hour to explain in a clever and humorous fashion the historical semantics of derogatory language, and why you're using it

it's best just to keep from making yourself look ignorant and insensitive in public.

This may be an age thing (mid forties) but several of my gay friends actually do identify with the term '****'. In fact they've often mentioned that they prefer it to the word 'gay'.

Words they don't accept though are homo and ******, the latter of which is almost always said with an agressive undertone.

So the next time someone says, "no homo" when commenting on a player, is that as unacceptable as saying "get up, ya ****"? (it's worth noting the importance of the comma in that last one)

MMM, weren't they the ones that got some Crow supporters together at the airport to sing the club song to the opposition coming off the plan... did that one work? :p

Please, this goes on at every game. Schulzy's eye.... i say no more!

Nah, not an obsession just a recent obvious reference point. It's like when I see a gutless hit on a player like Silvias hit on the weekend my mind compares it with other spineless acts on the field eg Banks hit on Morris in 88, Locketts hit on Caven in 93? and Bickleys hit on Wakelin. They are embedded in my memory forever. Having read what was allegedy said by the abuser in this case I first thought of Eddies massive beat up on abuse levelled at Krakouer because it was just that, a beat up. I then thought of the worst behaviour I have witnessed that is directed at an injured player and the Schulz one comes to mind. I have only seen the footage of that once since the game and the ongoing agro abuse by Camry supporters was the worst I have seen. Not obsession just footy memories. EFA it was Jim Edmund who elbowed Morris,Banks king hit another player.

Thousands of Crows supporters boo an injured Jay Schulz off of the ground - Non-issue. Crows supporters are the salt of the Earth. I heard Beryl even offered him a bite of apricot slice on his way down the ramp.

One Port supporting dickhead calls Knights a **** while the vast majority of the crowd claps him off - Top story on Adelaidenow. Typical Port ferals, amirite!? Obviously representative of their entire supporter base.

Never been able to see the point of screaming out anything to an opposition player - be it abusive, derogatory or whatever.

I bet that stupid mole Ali Carle has something to do with this smear campaign.
MMM producers took the story up beacuse of the issue the club made of the "feral" story.

What gets me is why the offended party did absolutely zero at the time, yet willingly takes up the crusade days later.

If you're that offended by <whatever the issue happens to be>, turn around and give the offender both barrels, or go and get security.

Because you don't get attention for doing the sensible thing by either getting security to have a word with them, or ignoring it.

There's a number they advertise on the super screen for people to text discreetly during games in situations exactly like this one.

"No, no, no. I'm pissed off and Twitter needs to know!!!".

When are the MMM producers going to pick up on this gem by a classy individual by the name of Tom Steven?
