Not really, considering where we are in our premiership cycle. Cripps is also likely to be better than anyone we pick at #44.
sorry still dont agree.whilst cripps could help immediately if he can even get a game with us i still cant see how it would be a fail if we drafted a 200 gamer with that pick
and koby probably wasnt going to help much in this premiership cycle,

Go research how many 200-gamers have been taken with picks in the 40s, and come back to us.

Average length of an AFL player's career is 4 years. The average length for a pick 40+ would be less than that.

the original point was that the stevens trade would only be a win if we got cripps with that pick.i was just pointing out that therer are other scenarios that could be classed as a win too

Looking quickly at the numbers there is about a 10% chance of a player taken in the 40s of playing 200+ games.

Oddly enough there is an anomalous spike in the stats, indicating that the chance of a player taken around pick 17-18 of playing 200+ rises to around 75-80%...

So all we have to do is make sure we draft a 200-gamer. No problem.

Somebody should let the club know.

Not if the draft goes the way many are predicting. FWIW I don't think their is a massive difference between Cripps and Nelson.

In the past fifteen years, we have the likes of Andrew Embley, Adam Goodes, Heath Scotland, Corey Enright, Ben Johnson, Dom Casissi, Chris Newman and Graham Johncock amongst a few others. Plus others well on their way to 200 games such as Dane Swan, Brian Lake, Adam Selwood, Shane Tuck, Kade Simpson and Andrew Swallow (that last one hurts so much, as we picked Spangher and McKinley ahead of him!)

But I would agree with the general point that there are fewer gold nuggets slipping through to the 40s and 50s compared with a decade or so ago. This is not unexpected given how professional the game has become, and the amount of resources being thrown at footy departments as a 'work around' the salary cap etc

Good luck in your future endeavours Koby and I wish you well, except when you play the Eagles.
Was really looking forward to him actually playing a bit this year and proving himself but I guess that has to happen with another club, if it does.
Pick 44 and something in the 60's for a premiership player, mmmmmmmm???????? Looks like we will be having quite a subtle draft period this year compared to recent years. Something tells me the club is more looking at getting ready made players to make a big play for a premiership and are quite happy with our current crop of young players recently drafted.
