I dont really know allot about boxing but this guy is constantly winning and has aparently won it all.
Would he be considered one of the greatest of all time?
Do boxers what he has done allot?
Could he be compared with Ali?

Nowhere near comparison with Ali, but this guy is a legend in his own right,... thats for sure!

He will never challenge to be 'the greatest'.

Not at the moment, doubt it for the future. Will go down as Australias greatest of all time.

He unified a division which isnt done all that often at all these days. His problem is he hasnt beaten a "A" level fighter, yet. Not all his fault, but his best win is probably Judah, who is nowhere near the level of say Hopkins, Mayweather, De La Hoya, Triniadad, Morales etc. To be an all time great, you have to beat great fighters. Tszyu hasnt done that, yet.

Has potentially huge matchups at 140: Mayweather or Harris (perhaps Gatti), 147: Spinks, who im sure would all fight him, Mayweather has called him out on numerous occasions. Tszyu has to make these fights for his legacy. And on legacy, he never even considered avenging his KO loss to Phillips, a fighter who stayed on the scene a long time after knocking Tszyu out. That will always remain a slight slur on him, as opposed to Lewis for example, who although was KO'd viciously twice, actually avenged those defeats.

if ali was tied to a chair with his hands cuffed behind his back, and tszyu was allowed hit him over the head with a baseball bat, ali would still find a way to win

via knockout

Of course, they fight in weight divisions that are at totally different ends of the scale.

But on Kosta's recent fight, the snippets I saw on the news were friggin amazing. He nailed that mouthy prick and was seamingly in total control of the fight. And to do it after 2 years out of boxing justs adds to the quality of his win. I believe once he retires he'll be recognised as Australia's best boxer.

Not a hope in hell. Do you not remember Jeff Fenich?

Am I the only one that thinks Kostya Tszyu acts a bit dumb?

I saw a press conference of him on the news tonight, and he speaks like a 5-year old.

"I got hit bad. I got up and hit him back. Then he fell over slowly, and I won!!!"

Leave the bloke alone. The transition into English wouldn't be easy for him. You wouldn't expect him to have perfect English and speak the language fluently, would you?

Most Russians struggle to speak English fluently. It's harder for slavic speakers to make the transition as easily as others can.

Comparing him to Ali is like comparing Andrew Gaze to Michael Jordan.

Having said that, there is no doubt that Kostya Tzu is one of Australia's greatest sporting stars- he doesn't get half the recognition he deserves.

In a world of boxing crammed full of blow hards, mouthy bastards and arrogant pricks who talk a very good fight, he's unique- a quietly spoken, polite guy who keeps his mouth shut and lets his fists do the talking.

over the years I've loved his fights mainly because its beautiful to see tossers like Judah talk crap for weeks beforehand, have Kostya keep his mouth shut and then absolutely take them apart.

If anyone's interested, his autobiography is a very good read, especially the parts dealing with him growing up in the soviet union- rather interesting approach to training which makes you think that everything since has been a walk in the park for him compared to that.

Will go down as Russia's greatest of all time!!!

Let's be realistic......as much as I love to cheer for this bloke, he wasn't born and bred here like Fenech.

He is our adopted champ.

.......and good luck to him

well he is fought his whole pro career out of Australia...he goes down as an "Australian" fighter.

If the Brits can claim Lewis, we'll claim Tszyu!!

Does he talk about how he betrayed the person who invested a stack in him to get him out of that hole known as Russia, and into this country and a world title...resulting in many in boxing to still refer to Tszyu has an animal who often chase cats, to this day?

Three belts in three different weight divisions. Tszyu only has the one title and, like Fenich, only has one loss next to his name. Yes, Fenich did lose more than one fight, but that was long after his career was over. Remember Fenich retired from the sport to play for a local Rugby team and he came back and was never really the same. His career as an invincible boxer ended after he continuously slept with women day after day, which restricted the amount of time he spent training in the gym.

Most people remember Fenich for stuffing his boxing up at the end of his career, but it's wrong. Fenich is undoubtedly Australia's greatest ever boxer and not even Tszyu or Mundine will take the glory away from him.

Will Wayne Carey be remembered as a champion AFL player or a player who stuffed his career up by having a stupid affair with a teammate's wife? Clearly he'll be remembered as a champion, as should Fenich. He shouldn't be remembered for something as petty as stuffing up his boxing at the end of his career when he slept with a countless number of women.

I bet you claim Russell Crowe though.

Mundine?

Kostya is great.

You can't compare him to straight to Ali though - different weight divisions for a start.
