Is anyone else a little worried that we have signed Krak up for 3 years on $250,000 a year.

It seems like far to much money considering up until now he has rarely had big influences on games.

Also with Tambling looking like an instant success we may get to the stage we he might not even fit into the side.

Nothing to worry about ATM. We have the youngest list in the AFL a this year with just under half the list under 21.

I'm not a big A Krakouer fan I must admit. If he's getting that much money it's a disgrace. He always looks overweight.

Yes, I am concerned. After we played hard-ball with Ottens, I thought we had got away from paying players on potential, but then we went and signed up Kraks on a deal that relies on him improving quite a bit each year. I'm confident he will get better, but it's a lot of pressure now for him to justify that amount of money.

About once or twice a game Krakouer will do something that is special that leaves you wondering how good he could be.

But thats not often enough. He needs to lift his intensity and consistency to the level his father and uncle had and shake off the potential tag. And he needs to do it now.

I'm especially worried that we gave him a three year contract considering he is a slacker.

Hasn't put on an ounce of muscle in 4 years and we reward his laziness with a juicy 3 year contract. Lo and behold he rocks up this year in the same unfit shape he has always been in. Who would have thought it?

Another 10-12 touches per game season for Krakouer coming up.

$83K a year for putting your body on the line in a game where injuries are a certainty. $83K to put your body under the feet of the likes of Richo and other man mountains. $83K to scrounge and put your head over the ball in the centre where their are boots flying left, right and centre. $83K for having a public profile and being bagged on public forums by anyone who has a P.C.
I don't think I'd do it for any less than $250,000 over 3 years. And at the end of 3 yrs its still not enuff to retire on. Good onya Andrew and remember there are people who think your worth it.

Its $250,000 per YEAR not over 3 years .....$750,000 over 3 years does seem over the odds to me...

I'm not bagging him, I'm suggesting the club has done the wrong thing.

For me, the order should be:

1. The player plays well enough to justify a big contract
2. Rewarded with a big contract

Just seems like it's around the other way with Krak. This is what has been a significant factor in preventing us from being a top club for a long time, ineffective use of the salary cap, putting too much pressure on players to perform.

Just want to point out that in todays AFL, 250,000/yr isn't *that* high.

( I'm working off the top of my head here, so give me some slack if the figures aren't exact )

TPP is ~6.4mil and rising, 38 players gives 170,000 each on average.

When you remember that we have a lot of new players on base packages, 250,000 is probably 'average', maybe even a little low for an established regular first 22 player.

I think at least 92% or something around that mark is the minimum amount of the salary cap that has to be paid.

I'm not trying to snipe Krakouer I do like him, However he just hasn't done enough to warrant that sort of coin at this stage in his career, and to be honest he doesn't look like he is going have a massive impact this year. I hope I am wrong however I can't believe how skinny he still is considering he has been in the system for so long.

Come on the kid was coached by spud for three or four seasons give him a go. Also he went through alot of ******** last year at home with his old man getting out of gaol and the death of his mate. Having Plough coach him IMO will make a hugh difference to the way he plays. JUST GIVE IT TIME!

not at all, thats average pay for a decent player...krak is ok...he always gioves the impression he is capable of more and we're hoping under TW that he will shine ...must admit though he moves like a turtle compared to Tambling
