How far away is Aisake from breaking in?
Cos I think we should aim for a current St.Kilda type setup (King, Gardiner, Kosi) with all three of the boys in the team, two rucks and one up forward..
Obviously the boys being ruckmen they will take a while to fully develop, but I reckon they could be a dominant trio in the years to come...
Until then I spose we can use cloke, hammo and kreuz..

Thoughts?

yeah cloke is a 'band-aid' for the next 2-3 years while those 3 you mentioned develop. That's assuming he stays on the list that long.
after that.. perhaps they could play together.. it would mean kreuzer would spend a lot of time forward though
and lol.. that would be a tall side

I thought they might have played Aisake in round 1. I have seen him train and he is a beast. Him and his brother could be the scariest combination in the AFL.

I like the King, Gardiner, Kosi comparison. If you're going to play 3 ruck types in the one side, at least 1 or 2 of them have to have the capability to play other positions on a full-time basis. Hampson, and Kruezer could easily play as KP forwards. Aisake is excellent at ground level, and could be played as a tall utility. The role of the modern ruck is changing. Versatility is not only valuable, it is essential. Kosi has that, King doesn't, Gardiner used to. :)

Are you serious?

Setanta is barely at AFL standard, and his brother has yet to play a senior game.

Why are we continuing with players that simply aren't good enough to get us into the finals?

Who would you play in the backline on the bigger forwards?

Austin and Bower?

I can't think of another man who has played as a key defender after switching codes two to three years ago.

And played as a key defender which is arguably the toughest job in football.

Even players who have played football since childhood have looked more out of place and clueless than Setanta in the backline. And they weren't playing for a side where the ball has been coming in at hundred miles an hour with next to no pressure and support from their teammates.

Setanta is a huge positive and has already done enough to support the decision to walk away from Ireland.

Was interesting to watch Setanta on the lead last week - very quick. When he started playing a the Bullants a few years back, he was always extremely fast on the lead, but lost some of that after he put on a lot of bulk last year. Looking forward to his match up on Gehrig. If Hampson was available last week, I'm sure Setanta would have played on Richo. :)

Aisake is still a fair way away. Sure he has the athletisism, but he still runs himself into trouble, and his disposal by foot still needs a bit of work. Still, saying that, he could debut by seasons end. Someone of his size and athletisism is worth persisting with.

The General is spot on. Setanta has a huge upside - he is a 2m athlete! Key defenders do not have to be gifted players anyway - Prestigiacomo has been extremely sericeable for Collingwood until recently and Setanta is going to be much better than him.

:)

Agreed - it is a huge achievement.

But it's only happened because of the absymal state of our defence over the past seasons. He could not have got a game at any other club

Reality is that a team with Setanta in its best 22 will never be a premiership chance. He is depth value only

Opps, I'm sorry, I do believe that you have your head firmly inserted where the sun dont shine.

I am willing to be that if we had let Carlos go a couple of years ago instead of giving the guy a chance, half of the teams in the AFL would have been lining up for him.

I think that by the end of the year with another full season behind him, you are going to be screaming that he is the saviour at CHB and we will need his services for the rest of his life in football.

At least he is passionate about all things Carlton... unlike some of the so called supporters out here.

Cork, he walked away from Cork, not Ireland and what a waste.
Average ok player now, or a league of his own, meh, fair play to him for going over there and giving it a lash and you know, we'll always support him, but still, the possibilities. We don't need him, thankfully. But he was pure gold. But thankfully we've a nice big supply of that.

Aisake has so much more potential the Seanty does anyway, not in hurling (well we never saw him break threw from Na Piarsaigh, he was close to it, he just left before his time) but Aisake was always the better footballer, I can almost guarantee that Aisake will be a lot better then Seanty or eh, "Carlos" or whatever ye call him, is.

Just on Austin, I don't really know anything about him other than a potential CHB I think??

I know he's young and a project player but can he play and do you guys expect him to eventually hold down CHB??
