I suppose I am no different to most Carlton supporters to say I was absolutely shocked at the size of Matthew Kruezer, on his return to the team.

Does anyone have any idea of how many kgs he has put on ?

His appears to not have filled out across the shoulders and legs, but he also now looks to have a bigger backside and gut even.

While he looked like he still had his old mobility, I am hoping that in the long run his new found frame is not too bigger stress for knees.

Well yeah he certainly is moving pretty much the same. Surprised me a bit actually, as while Waite was also moving pretty well right after coming back from his knee, he still seemed to have a reduced turning circle and take off speed. But Matty just seemed to move as he always did.

Anyway I trust the club/medical/fitness staff will manage him right.

Just looked to me he spent part of his year off building up his all round strength. Thought his body work against Mumford was fantastic and his movement around the ground looked good too. The boy has come back a man. ;)

Way to look for negatives.

I'm assuming he'll look pretty trim after a couple more games though.

Not at all, I am just trying to be realistic. As someone who has had massive amount of knee problems all of my life, I have a fair amount of empathy for the big Kruze, and I know from my own personal experience of how a few extra kilos can stress your knees.

I am sure that his longevity is to the fore front of the thinking of the CFC medico staff.

I worried about it a bit last year before the knee injury. Put on heaps of muscle over the pre-season and looked massive compared to 2009. I wasn't sure if he was quite as quick off the mark as he'd been previously.

Seemed to be moving OK against The Swans though - mainly because he starts moving much earlier than most and doesn't stop. Straight line speed might be another matter. Watching him jog between contests he looked on the lumbering side, but once the ball went down he was as quick as anyone.

Fev put on a lot of weight one year to be better able to compete in one-on-one contests. It didn't really work, and he shed most of it as the season went. Lost that little bit of agility and off the mark speed with the extra strength, and it wasn't worth it.

Matty might be in the process of finding his ideal fighting weight.

Why have we now got 2 threads on the same thing? This is why i dont often start threads because people come along a day later and start another one about the same thing. Use the thread search or just look down the list and see if you are posting the same thread again..

He currently weighs in at approx 103kg.

Over the course of the next month, that will be toned down to about 98kg which is about what they want for him.

If he had been playing all year, no one would have paid much attention to his size. Because he has reached his adult frame and shouldnt grow any more.

Also, judging from the picture of him standing next to Watson in the training pics from the other day, it looks like he has grown another 2-3cm over the past 12 months because he is towering over Watson.

Stay tuned for follow up threads including...

Hampson - too tall for a ruckman?

Garlett - is he too fast?

Judd - too ****ing good?

And that couldn't be asked in the Kreuzer thread everyone else uses because.......?

Geez there's alot of wannabe mods in here. Seriously people why do you care SO much. Why don't you guys start a thread entitled "My opinion on other threads" and post your whinging in there? Then the rest of us who don't mind don't have to sift through your crap. Get a life.

I love Kreuze. I don't think he's too big.
