Much maligned player who played with brilliant intensity after being labelled soft by many experts here.

One poster even wanted him dropped before he had a chance 'to fail'.

He deserves a chance to prove whether he can play at the highest level and not be dropped on perceived opinions of him and kudos to the match committee for giving him that opportunity.

Was excellent in the VFL and earned his spot in the team and if he keeps playing as he is, isn't going to lose it any time soon. :thumbsu:

Excellent display from Chris really impressed with his attack on the man and the ball, hopefully he continues this good form. :thumbsu:

was an excellent performance today. That play where he spoilt a certain mark and then bundled the other player over the boundary to hold things up was excellent.

And his kicking has improved out of sight and he no longer has problems with his kicking under pressure.

I think it's fantastic how he has fought his way back into the side. You can tell he has a point to prove by the way he attacks the ball and the man. Hopefully he can keep up this intencity and hold his spot.

He;s played really well the last 2 weeks, going in hatrd & decisiom making good, got him playing in a different possie this year which seems to be working, good to see :thumbsu:

He actually showed a few little glimpses V Saints last week. Starting to throw himself into contests with attitude. He's actually a very talented footballer, with lots of leg speed. Adding that element of toughness and competitiveness has transformed his game. Wasn't expecting this - before the year started he seemed to be just playing out the last year of his contract. Fantastic effort. Hope he keeps improving.

:)

I had a feeling that he was going to come good. Closely followed him throughout his time at Carlton. Ultimately, his skill set favors the style of football that this club is trying to play on a consistent basis -- as it did today.

Am glad that he has finally gotten his head psychologically into the game as he did today and last week. Has a lot of potential for the future to become a key player at least depth wise.

Loved the way he went about it today, really good to see him forcing his way in to the side and showing what he can do. Hopefully we can see more of his excellent kicking next week, loved his disposal today as much as his hardness.

I believe that he is this years version of Jordan Russell.

A player that the vast majority have well and truly written off as a player that can never live up to his potential yet when he is given a specific role and a time in the seconds to learn that role he will ultimately come good.

I don't believe that he'll raise his game to All-Australian contention as JR has but he has the potential to be a very good guy on the cusp of regular selection in the team. He'll be someone who you can count on for a good performance when he comes into the side and gives you his all.

Not a player that will ever play 22 games if healthy, but a good honest tryer. Every good premiership team needs several of those types of players and I'm glad that he's coming good.

His doing well i thought he be the first on the list to go but he might keep his spot the way his going maybe Warnock and Mclean better show something.

really? thought he did a couple of nice things but had no real impact on the game. was almost unsighted when the game was on the line.
This is crap. I was spewing last year when I saw a couple of his games, but today he threw his body in, attacked Port players and the ball with ferocity. Maybe he has turned the corner.

If Johnson keeps up his intensity and cements his spot, I think they should use him for our kick-ins, coz I just don't think Russell is quite up to it.

I had pretty much written him off, looks as though coaching staff have addressed his hardness & worked with him on it.

As long as they don't play him deep defence, is better suited up field.

Well done to Johnson.

And Ratten and Riley for recruiting him.

Great to see Johnson put that Manpower build to use on the footy field and not in a calender.

Had faith that he would hit the target every time today.

74% disposal efficiency.

Our depth could get another boost if Johnson keeps up his form.
