Has stepped up and become a true leader since the H.Shaw/Didak incident...been one of our best over the last 4-6 weeks....may not be the most talented guy on the park, but works his butt off to get the job done every week.....well done Nick!

I reckon this guy might be on to something. Maxwell could become a Ling-like stopper. He does not have elite pace but either does Ling.

He could become the man for players like Dal Santo and Mitchell in the coming weeks.

I agree. I particularly would like him to match up with Mitchell (if we get that far).

Maligned player who has had a good year and played a very good final against Adelaide. Take a bow Nick.

No he has not. He has been leading this way for 2 years.
yes, he has but the first part of the season he was struggling, but when the the going got tough, he stepped up AGAIN, just like he did last year in the final rounds and in the finals....

Must be close to the first bloke selected for any finals game.

His tackle on Rooke in last year's Prelim is a perfect example of what he can bring to the side and shows you don't need 20 + touches to have an impact in a final.

i thought maxwell was fantastic and dont forget presti, he was injured early and continued to battle on.a brilliant move by malthouse and may have created another midfield option, more importantly he is a hard nut and great in the crunches and with burns missing really stepped up and led by example.the goal he kicked early on in the third quarter got us going.

No, He has not. His leadership was as good as it is now as it was at the start of the season. His form all year has been good and he had a very good game on the weekend.
People like you are the kind of people that think performance has something to do with leadership. Maxwell regardless of his own form is an outstanding leader on and off the field.

ROFL!

He's obviously been out of form earlier in the year. Ever since the Hawthorn game where he played a good quarter or two on Buddy, he's been fantastic in his new role.

Before then he was poor.

ditto, thats what i was saying to kirk hinrich #12.....you can't deny that Maxwell had a poor start to the year!

his form all year has not been good at all, he had a very poor start to the year, he was horrible against West Coast, which he was pretty much the only person that day to have a bad game....that's why I am complementing him now, because he has stood up and led the team in the absence of SSB..

I just love the way he plays, hard at the ball & 100% team.

His 3 finals games last year were why some of us wanted him as a captain this year. he leads both on & off the field and yes we all know he hasn't got the skill of a Davis or Didak but boy if we had a few more of Maxwell type players we'll be unstoppable.

You're all just playa-haterz.

First off, our worst against West Coast was Nathan Brown who got pantsed by Kennedy and our rucks who let Cox dominate.

As for Maxwell, the guy has played about 4 bad games in the first half of the season. Heath Shaw's played roughly the same number of stinkers. He's been more consistent than Nathan Brown, been more influential than Wakelin (albeit not as consistent), and a whole lot better than Goldsack.

Out of all the back-6 players, I expect he'll finish 2nd in the Copeland behind Harry.

You would have been one of the idiots bagging him 5 weeks ago saying why is he in the team when besides the a couple of games has been very very good all year, he would certainly be top 6-7 in the Copeland Trophy.

He has been able to play both forward and defence and one thing has never been in question has been his leadership yet some how you think it has changed since a few weeks ago. Which it has not. He leads and plays the same way every single week.

Certainly an inspiring effort. I also got a laugh that Big Bucks' tag of "Hackwell" got a mention in one article today. :D

Wonder what our "mate" thinks of how maxy has played of late especially last week with his hand coming off.

LOL, I justed posted the same thing on another thread.

I reckon Maxy has the 'I don't care what you think' sticker plastered over the inside of his locker and tattooed on his inner arm. He's comfortable with his abilities but continues to play over and above them.

Feeling pumped for tonight - nervous as the prelim last year. GO PIES!
