Lachie has really been dealt a shit sandwich this year.
Hopefully he finishes the year with a club sandwich.

Missing 2 games and returning in 3 weeks is the normal timeline for a standard hamstring.

Given this is hamstring injury number two for the season an estimated return of 5 to 6 weeks seems spot on.

Personally I'd more concerned with our player management if he had a moderate hamstring strain and a return was set for 21 days time.

I absolutely love Schultzie since he joined our club last season because he brought a spark on the field in terms of intensity, toughness, pressure and a motor that never goes off. His back-to-back goals in the final quarter comeback vs. the Lions at the MCG set the entire place in raptures! He's blended superbly into our lineup when he's been healthy, and it's been a damn shame the injury bug's been biting him this season; I guess players sometimes fall into it and it takes time, patience and a disciplined recovery agenda executed based on regular evaluations of the injury and ensuring the recovery plan suits the current state injury status.

The club is halfway through the season and sits at the top rung of the ladder looking down having played a more-than-reasonably challenging strength of schedule. There's no allowable dropping off in performance ahead, as this Melbourne Football Club is coming to play their finals footy on Monday (NOTE: Sunday Night for me), so Fly's ready to call the "next man up" and that's how this club will handle the situation going forward.

As for Schultzie, I'd rest him until after the last "teen" weekend and THEN put him into his fitness test and work him up slowly for the finals. We need him firing on full cylinders for the finals. Let him ride the bench as a sub for Rounds 20-24 and play sparingly, i.e. not more than 10 minutes the first game, 12-15 the next two, 20-30 the next two and, if he's showing no ill effects of his hamstrings, then turn him loose for the finals. This is just an example and in no way to suggest how Jerrod Wade should manage Shooter (NOTE: I've had my own issues playing sport in my youth and have had joints replaced and can barely walk straight at 56, so I'm the last guy you'd want sports medical advice from!).

But what I WILL do is wish our mate Schultzie all the best on a successful rehab. Take ALL the time that is needed to FULLY RECOVER and make it back 100% for the FINALS! THIS would be GOODNESS in the end!

Peace!

I hope the one good thing that can come out of Lachie's time off is that Will Hayes will get to fill in for all those weeks.
And build on his first game, which possibly went a bit underrated. 21 Pressure acts, good running patters and looked reasonably composed once settled. I think met reasonable expectations and hopes.

He won a couple of free kicks with tackles too.

Can execrations be reasonable?

Yep, if you look through the pics you will see the dogs Banks and Saskia but apparently Banks died awhile ago.
I think they are French bulldogs but not sure.
I was wondering where the dog was in the pic I posted 😆

Their dog may not know the news yet, unless they facetimed Saskia from Hamilton Island 🤣
