Hey guys, ive got big raps on this kid after the 2 games from the championships.

Firstly i would like to say that i think talent-wise he is perfect for our time and could make us a real finals contender in 2-3 years.

But more importantly, if anyone saw the game today, that contest he went for in the last quarter when he got knocked out, sent chills down my spine. that took major guts

Anyone else see it? it was great and it definitely had to have caught our recruiters eyes.

Thoughts?

I know some cartlon fans would crucify me for saying this (e.g. Mojo and HBF) but i'm still not sold on Hansen over Gumbleton.

I'm sure i'll come around, i just need another analysis from mojo and for him to beat me repetitively over the head with a large wet fish.

Gee you're pretty sure about this C4. Do you have any "inside knowledge"?

not inside knowledge as such, but I am friendly with a Gippsland trainer who claims Hansen is hot on the radar of Carlton/Kanga's/Hawthorn (even though he himself wouldnt have anything to do with the drafting process ?).

But even aside from that, Lachlen seems the logical choice, a tall strong CHB/CHF who is a great mark and and a super athlete.

Gibbs - Essendon
Gumbleton - too Josh Kennedy like and we have too many forwards as it is, (however i do agree with the "best available" policy - so he'd also be an option).
Hansen - Carlton

Again, it all comes down to Essendon and who they take.

Not sure if you'll see Mojo around here, but here I am. The kid just oozes talent, and like I keep saying, anyone that can play KP at both ends is to me, a no-brainer.

Why do you say that?
While there both very similar Gumbleton seems to be a bit better decision maker where as i saw Hansen turn the ball over quite a bit which might just be nerves but they are very hard to split. Both have the same good attributes as they are coragous and great contested mark as well as having good speed.

id be interested also in taking Andrejs Everitt .... at 193 cm and still only 17 he could grow to be as big as his his brother, he also played pretty well for Vic.

Andrejs Everitt for pick # 18/20

You would be better off waiting until he has had a few years at another club to get all his bad habits out of his system. His brother has certainly been a better player at Hawthorn than he was at St Kilda and perhaps Andrejs might follow the same path. We certainly don't want any more wayward spirits at the club since we have cleared out the last lot.

Don't know if we can afford to make that assumption that he shares his brothers bad habbits. For all we know he could be a future leader ... after all, he still is only 17, we cant just lob him into the same category as his brother (who is a bit of a knobhead).

Suspect we might use those picks on a ruckman and a midfielder, only my thoughts though.

I agree they are very hard to split. If you're talking about Hansens game on Sunday, i must say I didn't notice those turnovers, but i'll watch my tape again over the next few days and have another look.

Speaking of bad habits and the draft, was Walkers inability to kick the footy made plain before we took him? Love his endeavour but sheesh...........

I'm sure he'll get better as he develops further. He guy only turned 20 in May, so lets give him some time. You only need to look at Kade Simpson to see it takes time for players to develop.

That Kade Simpson analogy is the only thing thats keeping me from lashing out at Jordan Russell .....

I made a post on bigfooty a while back refering to the possibility of taking andrejs everitt. He'd definantly be a developer for our club and couldnt expect too much too soon. But if he gets to the same size as spida he'd be a very formidable player given his silky skills by hand and foot. If he never developes as a true ruckman im sure he could forge a career in the backline.

Also, a big YES on hansen. Gumbleton is a phenominal player, but he is too similar to JK, and we already have flourishing forward stocks. Hansen will make our defence a decent unit, and if we need him to go up forward, he's more than capable.

Sick of the kicking crap. Walker has had some bad disposal, however if it was spot on all the time he would be one of the best players in afl. On the whole the kid is a gun when he fires up. He plays SUPER hard and very fast aggressive footy. Ke also kicks a lot of stab passes over long distances with a lot of power behind them. I dont know how many times i've written this but listening over the internet his kick is the only one I ever hear, its a genuine "thump". This type of kicking, with this type of play, is a lot harder to master, but the results are superb. Let it go. Whats more its not a consistant BAD, just not yet a consistant perfect. People are quick on the knives with this kid. He has come good this year, and next year with the pressure off the reins will deliver in spades (and by foot).

Better than DeLuca !

I like the look of Everitt as well, but I'm not so sure we we really need that type of player........we've already got similar project players in Raso & Edwards.

I prefer to focus on a couple of runners come our 2nd & 3rd picks, assuming we draft Hansen, Gumbleton or Thorp with our 1st.
