Absolutely. Immense respect to him, very selfless.
On that same note, glad we’ve shown some ruthlessness in our list management.
Strachan has been battling an acute navicular stress fracture in his right foot, having undergone surgery back in December, but recently suffered another stress fracture in his heel while recovering.
He was subsequently set to miss a large chunk of the upcoming season, with some uncertainty around his exact return date, but the 29-year-old last week selflessly agreed with Adelaide officials to sit out the entire campaign and give the club the opportunity to sign McAndrew as vital ruck cover.

My hope for this is that for some games we play a double tandum ruck. Reilly should be looking forward to the competition. It will make him better too.

He was not AFL standard... And he isn't going to improve. Given his injury and age, it's probably best for his own situation to move on from full time footy. Win win for both parties.

Someone check on George Kramer with Norwood now being in all sorts of ruck strife
Its a smart call and I think deep down he knew that even if he somehow made it back towards the end of the season, hed be in the Sanfl anyway for several weeks not ready for an AFL call up. Better to take the year and heal properly without the stress of trying to get fit enough for finals and re injure it.
Honestly though, I think that its time on his AFL career. Hopefully next season he can make a Sanfl comeback with another club.

Absolutely ecstatic clearly as a fan. McAndrew now likely becomes our long term viable second ruck on the list and we just need to replace ROB. Much much better situation than having to replace both at the end of this year.
