Is he the real deal in terms of keeping his scores up for the majority of the year..? We all know he is quite quick for his height and is capable to turn a game with a few touches though can he match his talent with DT scores..? He's the highest scoring forward atm and the Hawks aren't showing any signs of slowing down with endless supply from their midfield...I know there is a lot of Buddy threads on the Main AFL Board, though he hasn't really been slotted in as a key DT player, and understandably so, though it's hard to ignore his good scores so far...Can he become elite and turn it on for the whole year...?

Buddy has been outstanding in the first 5 weeks and he gets the No. 1 defender most weeks and still gets excellent scores. He looks to be the real deal this season.

Hard to see most backs stopping him, and teams will continue to rotate players through to find a match. I think even when he's not kicking 7 or 8, he's going to give enough of a return to warrant a permanent place in most sides. He seems to be improving more and more each game.

Im gonna trade for riewoldt over buddy this week. Hope that doesn't bite me in the arse
I'm tossing up between Buddy & Riewoldt as well, I'm slightly leaning towards Buddy atm only because he'll get more delivery, but it's a very hard call..

This may be a wrong acquisition but Buddy needs around 6 or so goals to get over 100. Where as Riewoldt only needs 1-3 goals in order to break the 100.

But like you guys have said Buddy is just dominating so far and no one looks to stop him.

Its really a flip the coin thing, but either one is a good pick up :thumbsu:.

And if you have both your laughing...:D

Buddy is a great player, and will average about the same as the other premiums, but will be one of the most inconsistent. As has been said, he will pull monster scores more often than last year, but will still have the occasional quiet week.

Could potentially be the highest scoring forward of the year. I'd say if you want a sure thing, go Riewoldt. If you want to take a chance on what could be the best forward pick-up of the year, go Buddy.

i think his DT status has gone up a notch in 08 :thumbsu:

but is still susceptible to low scores.
i'm sure you will get him for cheaper at some point throughout the season.
wait until rd10-15 to strike at 300k :)

I am still unsure on Buddy. I had him last year cause he was pretty cheap but this year i decided not too grab him. Like most that dont have him, i wish i had of picked him up instead of Brown or Cloke in my instance...

However, that said, im not quite sure if he is worth trading to at the moment.

His score for the first round was good against Melb (but most forwards will score well against Melb!). He then had 2 pretty average scores even though he kicked 4 or 5 in both games (i think?). His last 2 weeks have been great but 1 was against Adelaide (highest scoring team to play arent they?) and at the Launceston (highest scoring ground) and the other was in a shootout where he scored 8 goals on a pretty shit brisbane defence!

I think he may score alot of those 50 - 60 scores yet still kick 4 or 5 goals. Obviously he will also score big tons!

I traded hall to riewolt last week and am happy with that. It think wolt will outscore buddy in the long run.

Will be watching buddy though, and if he can keep up an average of 90 to 100 then might look to grab him later in the year at the right price.

Thoughts?

Just cant wait for my forward line to read as:

L.B.F, BJ, JB, Pav, Chapman, T.Cloke/Porplyzia, Riewodlt

I have the ones in bold and with 225 k in bank could easily get Volt this week for T.Cloke but T.Cloke will probably start scoring 100;s when i get rid of him.

Well done Dunn - Well Done (trying saying with a mouthful of razorblades)
Ripper forward line, If I had the cash I wouldnt hesitate on trading in Rooey @379k for Cloke

Theres a bit of talk of Buddy vs Riewoldt but how about Buddy vs Pavlich? I can easily afford either but Pav is normally gold and is now a far bit cheaper than earlier in the year. As well Pav has yet to kick a bag like Buddy and is still scoring reasonably well.

To me its a line ball decision...

upon looking at buddys next few games i was sure that he was the best out of him and roo with:

richmond, collingwood, port, melbourne, bulldogs, essendon

however then you look at roo's:

port, richmond, collingwood, brisbane, melbourne, bulldogs

and it becomes even again. but you have to go with buddy imo
