These are the players that I believe are playing for their careers this year. Callen; Gardiner { gone}; S. Johnson; Kelly; Spencer;Playfair[gone];Owen;Reynolds. Thoughts?

I reckon keep Gardiner. The guy has had to play CHF quiet often and be a major focla point in the forward line. If we had a legit FF and CHF he would be a damn hard player to match up on. His disposal is a little off but i think as a fringe player/coming off the bench he is handy.

I'd almost put Ling in that list. If, like last year, he seems slow and unable to deal with the pace of the game and the requirements demanded by it, he'll end up being cut. That may seem harsh but nobody wants to keep him on if he becomes a liability, regardless of his service to the club.

I just hope that he can get it together this season.

He cant kick and he cant mark. He is a dud of the highest order and so are you for thinking he has a future at this club.

Not a chance. Ling shlts me to tears, seriousely, but the guy is a senior in the line up, a leader (not a great one i'll admit) and shuts down some talented opposition. If he can change his 'sideways...zero momentum' game style to a more attacking one then i think he's got a place in our top ten to fifteen easily. There is no way he's down there with Charley and Hank, Spencer etc.

Then why didn't we get rid of him last year? With one year left on his contract we would have been soooo much better paying him out and picking up Rhyce Prismal with our fifth pick in the draft... will come back to haunt us!

I'd really like to know why bomber thinks charley has a place on the list. When will he be used? Guys like SJ, Gamble, Mooney, NA even Henry and Varcoe will be used befor he is. I know what'l happen... He will play VFL, get delisted at the end of the year then Some young gun who we could have picked up with our fifth pick will be taken befor we get the chance in the draft... damn it!:thumbsd:

Na i personaly wouldnt say that. He might not be the fastest player in the side, but he can read the play. A little bit like how Greg Williams plays ( in small parts) he wasnt the fastest player but he can read the ball!!!!

Yeah but Greg Williams could also dispose of the ball very well - Linga's disposal has been pretty suspect lately. It's one thing if he is slow but still first to the ball and then uses it well - but he hasn't used the ball effectively at all in the last year or so.

Agree totally.

You just wonder how close the club is to the 100% of the salary cap. May have paid too many guys on potential after 2004 and 2005.

Cannot agree sorry. I watched the reserves Grand Final and Gardiner couldn't even stand up, let alone get the ball. He is a talentless dud of the highest order. There are only two words that explain why this hack still manages to be on an AFL list.......Mark Thompson. And the reason he wasn't cut is that footy clubs now are terrified of breaking contracts. Much like our coach.

As for Ling being compared to Greg Williams, well one word differentiates the two - talent. If Ling has another year like the last one, he could well be cut. Wouldn't bother me either. Like to see him on TV laughing about losses when he doesn't have a job.

If we delisted Charlie we would've gone over the salary cap I'm sure. Only reason I can think of that he's still around.
