How many times have you seen someone 200cm and 100kg win the ruck knock, rove it then dash away from a bunch of midfielders and a few minutes later kick a small forwards goal that LeCras would have been proud of roving off the pack?
I understand this thread is about Bruce's over the top fawning commentary but trying to downplay the performance of the player than evoked it is a it rich even if he is from the slime.

Yeah he was great, but the commentary was over the top and detracts from the performance, in my opinion.

In general I find footy commentary these days to be a real detriment. Especially the montages 7 and 10 run, with the urgent music and baritone voice. It's getting so cheesy now I turn the sound off until bouncedown. Fox Sports might be all over more shoddy (and some terrible commentators) but at least it's all footy and little else.

You can't even turn down the sound and listen to the radio, if it's a live call, because the prick TV coverage is deliberately delayed by a second or two to stop you doing that.

Yeah Fox lets the footy sell itself. Miles and miles ahead of the hyperbolic crap the commercial stations dish up.

I watch a lot of NFL and they are also nowhere near as bad as what we get here. America are usually the kings of cheesy hype and it's a bad sign when their sports broadcasts are 10 times more reserved and classy than ours.

Pretty much all Aussie commentators are crap for the footy atm, since Clinton left us. Some of the best stick to radio instead. However Fox is advertless during the game time and has magazine shows that aren't just for ratings. Long live Foxtel.

Maybe Commetti's bandwagon jumping ways have rubbed off on him, who knows? But I prefer to think he's just a decent Freo boy at heart who's come to his senses about the corrupt corporation down the road.

I totally agree Esti, perhaps it is the fact that Freo are actually dominant over the Weagles these days, it may be the whole Mainwaring issue but he certainly has improved. I would like to think that he has returned to his Freo roots but he is certainly better than the days when he was slapping our players in the face.
