I know this guy in Nigeria who is desperate to get $20mil out of that country. Send me some signed letterhead, your bank account details and $10,000 and I'll get to work.

Four steps to money laundering:

1. Have money and lots of it.

2. Some really dodgy business connections (mafia or some Asian gang will do)

3. Be willing to pay a financial advisor lots to move it around from country to country to cover your tracks.

4. Set up a bank account in Bermuda and enjoy the sun.

This all relies on you having lots of money to begin with that has been obtained through dodgy business dealings. How else do you think the Grollo's got so big so fast in the late 70s and early 80s.

How do I do it?

Buy a large ship in a place like Liberia, do a few legit cargo runs to gain credibility, sell ship.

For smaller amounts, a few 'wins' at the Casino or the racecourse will suffice.

Gamble with it - but you gotta find a dead set certainty (Australia against Bangladesh @ $1.03), or a dodgy bookie - (Robbie Waterhouse perhaps) but basically the idea is not to win money but cover your outlay - get back what you put down!

Bet a dodgy $1000 and get back a clean legit $950 - $1050

Cheers

Gonzo

Definitely casinos are the go.

Cash a a few thou at a high roller blackjack table then play a few hands until you lose a couple in a row, then wander off on the pretext of finding another gambling option. Cash your chips in. Leave.

The best way used to be to found a church. Just walk in and plonk the money into the collection plate. Your church, so its your money.

Dodgy charities are still good fun.

Go down to your local footy club. Buy $100k in meat-raffle tickets ... have them hire you as player-coach for $100k a year.

Depends on how many cents in the $ you want back.

One way is to place a bet on every horse in a race.
When you win ask the TAB to pay you in a cheque
Bank the cheque in your normal account.
Clean, traceable and appears totally legal.
The down side is you may only get 50 cents in the dollar back but its clean
The up side is if an outsider gets up you may make money on your dollar

A variation on this is to open a TAB account. Put dirty money in it. Withdraw it via a TAB cheque then deposit cheque in your normal account. The money looks clean.

Of course all of the above is totally illegal and I would not advocate doing it.

The casino logs all large transactions. So it can be a difficult thing to do without getting photographed and investigated.
