I read in the paper the other day Lawrence Angwin wants to one day get involved in coaching in the AFL, surely he can't be serious can he??

Angwin eyes return to AFL

January 28, 2007 DISGRACED Carlton forward Laurence Angwin wants to return to the AFL - as a senior coach.
Angwin, dumped by the Blues after turning up to a recovery session drug affected in 2004, has been recruited by South Cairns as a playing assistant coach after two seasons at Victorian club Broadford.
Angwin, 24, who was also sacked by Adelaide, said he was a changed man after his early troubles and could return to the AFL as a coach.
"Maybe not as playing, maybe one day as a coach I'd return to the AFL," he said.
"I was a ratbag and now I want to be a leader," the Cairns Post quoted Angwin as saying.
"I've grown a huge amount myself.
"I know I made mistakes, but now it's time to turn that around and just start afresh."
In 2005, Angwin revealed in a magazine interview that he took ecstasy and sometimes cocaine every weekend after matches towards the end of his career.

it just shows you he is still using narcotics if he thinks he can coach an afl club one day
well at least his players will be up for a game down for a game up for a game down for a game up for a ....... you get the picture 
He could turn out to be the greatest coach ever, but we are unlikely ever to find out because his record is forever hanging over his head, and it would take guts for a club to give him a go. There's a lesson in there somewhere (and a point... maybe).
I will eat my hat if Angwin ever got a job at an AFL club ever. I can say without doubt he would never become a great coach. He has all the attributes of the worst coach. No disicpline, no work ethic, no trust and no fighting attitude. He was a naturally gifted athlete and the only people to thank for that are his parents.
Yes you are correct, and I suppose the lesson is that youthful stupidity can cause a lifetime of regret.
He is so young and people are always prepared to give second, third and fourth etc chances to exfootballers. Look at Mick Miguane - he let down alot of people and burned a few bridges but hes still had a chance to redeem himself. I know Angwin and Miguane are poles apart in their achievements in football but it shows that you can never say never.

No I think we can safely say you and I have more hope of coaching than he does.
He'd probably do more harm than good.

The coach of cairns is Steve daniels, now i think he is the one who coached Seymour in the GV, the bloke is an excellent coach, Maybe he can get Angwin to pull his head in. He changed the whole club around at seymour, wouldnt surprise me at all.
