meh

some bands like to write songs that go for over 5 minutes...

I'd heard their music and didn't like it. I decided to give them another shot and now they're awesome. Happens regularly with me. At first I didn't think much of Arcade Fire, now I've put down Neon Bible as the second best album of the year.

Yeah thats what i thought at first, I had Black Dog on my iPod after my Dad recommended it but i usually skipped it, and then i had Stairway which i didnt listen to much. It all started when i found my Dad's Remasters Box Set and I was hooked. Their popular songs such as Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog aren't in their best works, you really have to give them a listen, it is because they are like their only two radio friendly songs.

Hopefully their recent publicity gives them some more popularity and air play, ive never heard any Zeppelin songs on the radio ever, except for Black Dog about 1 year ago.

UpForGrabs, if the quality's decent on that version you have tell us where you got it.

Yeah, so the quality's not the greatest. Low sound which needs to be cranked to be enjoyed properly - but you can still see how good the guys were. Plant's voice is seemingly different to his solo 'voice', as though he's doing his best to reclaim a bit of the Zeppelin wail.

For those who want to know where I got the recording - I grabbed the torrent from Dimeadozen, but I'm sure it's spread to other trackers by now.

You mean 3 minutes (20x3 = 60 minutes = 1 hour).
Some of Page's live solos, although long, aren't that bad such as Dazed and Confused where he uses the violin bow on the guitar. I usually skip live 'Moby Dick' versions because they for like 20 minutes. Although Bonham is skillful and plays with passion (when he snaps his sticks in Moby Dick he plays with his hands and he cuts them open and shit from hitting the drums so hard) it is not much of a listening experience.
I can't beleive they played Trampled Underfoot, good on JPJ for keeping up :)

Maybe they decided to play it just to remind everyone how blatantly Franz Ferdinand ripped it off for 'Take Me Out'.

In the Frenzal's case, 2 minutes.

Surely the fact he has mentioned Frenzal Rhomb in a Led Zeppelin shows where he sits on the spectrum of musical taste.
I reckon, ones a groundbreaking band and one are a group of old bastards from england:p
give me the rhomb over zeplin anyday.

I told ya Zeppelin were awesome - well done for giving them a go :thumbsu: I never used to like the Beatles until I really took the time to listen to their catalogue. You have to take time to get into the great bands.

Hopes fade for grand Zeppelin tour
http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5iJhcOiYayXso-lFcJDC52RueaRhg
Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant appeared to dash hopes of a reunion tour by announcing he is to go on the road with country star Alison Krauss.

The pair will play a string of dates across the UK and Europe next May, expected to be followed by a series of US shows in the summer.

Led Zeppelin fans have been clamouring for a full-scale tour since the band's triumphant comeback gig in London on Monday.

While guitarist Jimmy Page has indicated his willingness to reform for a full-blown tour, Plant has always been reluctant to commit.

Fans on the band's official website expressed their disappointment at the news. "Oh dear - no Led Zep tour in 2008," wrote one.

"I really am sick to my stomach," said another, while others likened Krauss to a "Yoko Ono" figure for keeping the band apart.

She and Plant released a critically-acclaimed album, Raising Sand, last year. It debuted at number two on the US Billboard chart.

Their tour begins on May 5 in Birmingham and will be followed by gigs in Manchester and Cardiff. The European leg will take in Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway, before ending at London's Wembley Arena on May 22.

No other dates have been announced, but Plant and Krauss have said they will tour the US as well.

However, it has been rumoured that Led Zeppelin may play a small number of shows together, including New York's Madison Square Garden and possibly the Glastonbury Festival.

I'd love to see a Plant / Krauss tour, their new album together is really a great album, I've always been a fan of new material over nostalgic tours like this, I do believe Robert has indicated his willingness to play the Blues & Roots Festival down here as well with Alison but he was worried the giant spectre that follows Zeppelin around would ruin it (could just imagine them playing and people screaming out requests for Black Dog left right and centre).

I'm quite happy with them leaving this as a once-off. Of course, if they did tour and came here, I'd buy a ticket in a heartbeat, but the reason for the reunion wasn't to go on tour, it was to play a charity gig for a guy who did more for Led Zeppelin than nearly any other. To leave it at that indicates that they aren't keen to cash in on their legacy - something some other bands long since succumbed to doing...

I checked the list Zep played and it would have been better if they played "When the Levee Breaks" and "Immigrant Song" too. Otherwise, that is a good set.

They would never attempt the Immigrant Song as Plant can't get anywhere near those notes now. I assume it would be the same for "The Song remains the same".
