To be fair the hype surrounding these two is nothing in comparison to some of the rubbish sprouted by the tabloids after Ronaldo's first appearance as a sub.

And you take notice of what the tabloids say?

I'm just bemused...last season, Mellor was the new golden boy for Jod. This season, it's Le Tellac and Pongolle.

And I still like Mellor and want to see him get a few games but alas now he will never get a game behind Owen, Baros, Heskey and now TLT and Pongolle.

But I wanted him to see game time last season because nobody apart from Owen was scoring goals. But this season Heskey has been a machine :D

Your not wrong there. Just a couple of days ago leading into the champions league match between Man U and Rangers, the top story on soccernet.com was "Ronaldo to start" it also had a big picture of him aswell, all about how he will start a game for Man U???

I dont think he has shown all that much more than either TLT or Sinama. BUt I dont mind, the lower key the better.

A young kid who is a winger....the tabloids will always wet themselves. They also go overboard with strikers too (Owen when he was in his teens, Rooney last season).

You want low key? You're the one who declared them to be excellent signings after only a handful of games.

If you want low key, try John O'Shea last season or Darren Fletcher this season. Now that's low key.

Don't we say that everytime United and Liverpool play?

To my mind, the last great United vs Liverpool games were the tension wracked 2-2 at Anfield late in the '99 season and the 3-3 at Anfield back in '94 when Liverpool came back from 0-3 down.

Other than that, either one side has laid down and been royally shagged by the other, or they've been dour and defensive affairs decided by a flukey winner (and in the case of Beckham's winner in '96 or Murphy's winner the other year, the better team lost).

Rarely do you get non-United/Liverpool fans looking back at our games and saying, "That's how football should be played".

At least in domestic terms, United vs Arsenal are more memorable affairs in terms of the quality of football played.
