Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

we're done for..
best i can hope for now is winning that free trip to watch the last home game

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Another wasted opportunity - results around us went the right way yet we couldn't capitalise.

Can only hope we get some points back because we are too inconsistent to make the playoffs by ourselves. :(

Still too close to call who will make the play-offs.

7-9 games left for most teams the race is still wide open.

Not too sure about good things.

The games in hand have pulled us up into it but inconsistency is still our downfall.

And yes Westlake has been pretty good since his loan started, he's given us the width we have needed and was MOM against a red hot Doncaster on saturday.

And i'm pretty sure Leeds has put in a clause so that he is game tied vs Leeds(or Leeds can recall him).

So there's a chance he'll play against Brighton.

I'd be surprised if we didn't try and sign him on a permanent deal at seasons end( if we can find the money and Leeds will let him go).

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Good for the supporters (and for Neil Kilkenny) that Leeds got back on the winners sheet, but I have to say that a crowd of 19,000 is very poor for a club that is as big as Leeds United. Even watching the highlights it looks more like 14-15k at Elland Road.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Well after last nights results a play-off spot is yours to lose I reckon.

Tranmere losing to Bornmuff was a big result as it now means you have 2 games in hand over them, Wallsall's draw with Crewe means a game over them.

I think you'll roll us on Saturday easily, we've played 4 games in 2 weeks and we'll be flat on our feet after the draw with Forrest.

By Saturday you should be in the play-off zone and have games in hand.

Don't say that, I want you guys to get a draw at Leeds, that way Carlisle will be more than a game ahead of Leeds if (and it's a big if) they get their 15pts back.
I'd also like Doncaster and Forest to play out a draw, then with a win at Gillingham, we would be 7pts clear in second.

Ha just being honest.

We've lost our left back/right back and midfield bully in the last 2-3 weeks so we're resorting to playing frumpy old vets in those positions.

If Leeds want to score the best avenue will be to attack from the flanks where we are slow, through the middle we are reasonably solid.

I'd love a draw, but I don't think we'll have the legs to get through the game without conceding more than a few goals.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

I'd like to see some consistency before I make predictions. Lately one good result is followed by one or two poor ones, undoing any good work.

Great win against Walsall and we played some nice football too from all reports but it will mean nothing if we don't reproduce that on the weekend. Results are going our way, we just need to seize the opportunity.

luckily for you, we are piss poor down the flanks, but gifted with league 1 "talent" through the middle
as catman says, you start getting excited with leeds, and they kick you where it hurts and bring you back down to earth with shocking results..so i think you do the old "take each game as it comes"

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Just an update for the person who was asking about Westlake.

A Brighton fan

In a conversation I had with him, he made it abundantly clear that he does not want to go back to Leeds, he dislikes it there, and would like to sign for us permanently. I know the money issue would probably rule that out, but would Leeds really want him playing for them right now, as he clearly doesn't want to be there?

A Brighton fan

Shame we missed out on a striker, but that does sound very positive. I am bemused as to why they(Leeds) wish to loan him out to a potential rival. I could understand the months loan, but for the rest of the season...? Good work if it comes off! I guess he would be ineligible IF we were to make the playoffs and IF we were to meet Leeds.

To which a Leeds fan who is involved in some part in Leeds legal actions replied

pm me, bof(Brighton Fan). i'll share some pics that might ease your bemusement.

I wonder what the pictures show?

Any idea what this was about?

Another poster indicated Westlake and McCallister had a bust up and don't get along.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

massive rumours from very reliable sources that leeds were offered a deal of getting back 5 points on friday from the FL, and bates the stupid old w***er flatly refused it. Thinking we will get all 15 back
Honestly, even with the 15, it would still be a massive battle to get automatic, id be happy with the 5 that would pretty much give us a golden chance of a playoff spot

Eight Points Back For Leeds United?
April 01 2008 05:20 by Swansea Jack
Leeds United will have eight points given back to them prior to their arbitration hearing which was scheduled for 14 April in a move that could throw League One into chaos - that is the latest view from leading sports Lawyer Richard Cramer

The Yorkshire 'giants' have been fighting all season to get their 15-point deduction - imposed at the start of the season - overturned and were expected not to hear anything until the hearing took place in the middle of the month.

But sports lawyer Richard Cramer has said that the league don't want to leave the hearing another two weeks and have reached the compromise with Leeds to receive back just over half the points they were deducted. Mr Cramer himself believed just two weeks ago that Leeds had a "25-30% chance" of getting back all their points although he did expect there to be a decision that sat somewhere in the middle.

But he now believes that the decision has been made to the satisfaction of both parties and it will be announced on 15 April, the day after the initial scheduled date. "I always believed that there would be a compromise reached somewhere in the middle of this.

"Both the League and Leeds United will be looking for a compromise to be reached rather than allowing a battle to run on all summer which would leave more clubs than just Leeds in limbo. I would expect from here there to be a counter action by the clubs immediately affected by this decision and I would expect to hear something about that soon after the decision.

"There is still time between now and April 14 for this to change but this is the outcome at the moment that both parties are happy with."

Should Leeds be given back the 8 point amount then it would dramatically change the look of the League One table now with them moving from their current position of 8th to 4th with the chance to make up ground on 3rd place Doncaster because of their game in hand. Big losers at this moment would be Tranmere who would drop out of the play off zone.

There is little doubt that there will be further repercussions if this decision is indeed proved to be correct and I suspect the saga of Leeds United and their missing points will rumble on for quite some time yet

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Huge win this morning against Doncaster. Alan Sheehan scored the winner with a free kick in the 20th minute. We had to hold on at times but did so resolutely and always threatened on the break.

1pt out of the playoffs with a game in-hand.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

it wasnt a wind up, posted on a sports lawyers site, same guy did an article for bbc a few weeks ago saying we had about a 30% chance of getting all the points back
the FL are running scared, we get all 15 back and we could go up automatically

*wakes up from dreamland and slaps self*:D

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Even if this story was true I'd be a tad suspicious about the partiality of the source, Leeds born, bred and still based lawyer Richard Cramer. Would surprise me if he was on Ken Bates payroll to be honest, I can't really see how he would have a clue what percentage chance Leeds have of getting any points back.
