Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Haha and that's the joke that the penalty was that Carlton actually got peanlised more severely than Leeds did.

And the only reason it went to 13p in the pound is once again the shonky ****s tried to get out of their responsibilities and shaft people.

Funny how they can go from crying poor to being able to afford to pay the 4the highest wage structure in league 1

Why would we kick those other clubs out?

They haven't tried to rort anyone to any degree Leeds have.

And if your fan power is so great and big how is it then we can drive a cancer out of the club but you can't?

HAHAHAHA
comparing draft picks with league points?
that is the most idiotic thing ive ever heard, especially in a league where there is relegation
Ah so swindons 23mil? **** it dont worry about it, leeds have 12 million more so they deserve to be kicked out more
On ken bates, this mans ego isnt the size of the withdean, it is massive..doug ellis anyone? hes not the first to do this, basicly he wanted 3 times what the club was worth to sell, cant exactly oust a bloke whose been hated his whole life can ya?
But dosent matter, you know what, give us the 15 points back, just dock us our two best kids...i think thats a much fairer punishment:rolleyes:

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Interesting serialisation of Ridsdales book in the Sun the other day. Doubt too many Leeds supporters will want to buy it, but I would think it would be well worth the read if you can get hold of a copy.

He has a fair dig at David O'Leary apparently?

ASMS...

You say Leeds should have been kicked out the league...

by that same reasoning would you have supported Carlton being kicked out of the AFL?

They both stuffed up. Fairs fair? Glass houses?

Losing picks in a draft to losing match points...whack a relegation system in the AFL and see if your tune changed.

If Ken Bates came to your club would you stop supporting the club...

Jump on a few Leeds Utd forums and see how much Leeds fans are supporting Ken Bates.

Wow Carlton paid a player or two a few extra bob to play.

Leeds United ****ed over countless business and people to the tune of millions and millions.

Hardly has the same impact on other people.

The difference is when AFL clubs go into debt they cant just go into administration and **** people over in regard to their debts.

If Bates came to our club they would be protesting from day one and boycotting games until he was gone.

Fan power is a mighty thing if your fans really want serious change.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Who cares whether Leeds punishment fits the crime or not, what's important is this weekend's game.
16,500 people expected at Brunton Park for the Leeds clash with league leaders Carlisle. Leeds are definately a class above the other teams in this league, but I think this will be one of their sternest tests. Carlisle under new ownership have climbed two division in three years (and were not without a chance last year) are one of the genuine contenders for promotion this season. We have a solid back four, one of the most improved young keepers in England and one of the better strike duos in the league. The Cumbrian press are expecting this to be one of the best games of the season, and hopefully it will live up to the hype.

Leeds arent a class above the rest.

Alot of their points have been fortunate wins in the last few minutes of games.

They certainly weren't a class above us when we played them and we aren't much chop at present.

We are playing great football at the moment. Go on, admit it.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Gee you're boring and also possibly quite lonely. No Brighton fans to talk to?

Plenty, North Stand Chat is one of England oldest and more famous fan sites in England and it's Brighton based.

It's how I keep a finger on the pulse of what's really going on over there, and not what's being said on here.

There's even Leeds fans posting on there :thumbsu:

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

You've been on the right side of some luck that's for sure :thumbsu:

But ya gotta take it as it comes, these things often have a way of turning around.

So we are not playing good football?

11 wins 2 draws....and we are there by luck? right...

If you look at the year we got relegated from the Prem league, we conceded loads of goals in the last 5 minutes of games.

Luck goes both ways, just take it when it comes.

11 wins and 2 draws from the first 13 games, if it wasn't for the 15pt pealty, they would be sitting 4 games clear on top, and you don't think they are a class above??

Irrespective of whther they have been lucky in a couple of games, the fact they haven't been able to put their best team on pitch for most, if not all of the games so far suggests they are a long way from their best, yet are still undefeated.

Carlisle have won a few games and drawn two in the last five minutes, are you saying we don't deserve our position as well??

I can only best rate you on your game against us, and you arent that great on that performance.

And reading fans reviews from your own supporters who were at matches in their game reports the word "lucky" has come up more than a few times.

So no you aren't a class above, though if you think being gifted a goal in the last 5 minutes of a match makes you so then bully for you.

Have we played your team yet??

I don't think there would be anyone stupid enough (except you perhaps, from the comments I've read) who think that luck does not come into winning championships, promotions etc... You need some, otherwise you'll end up supporting teams like Rochdale or Brighton or Shrewsbury, clubs which rarely push for promotion, preferring the safety of mid-table mediocrity season after season after season.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

luck?
hahaha
thats a new one
try this...leeds have easily the best training facilities in the league, underwent a massive pre season in which quite a few players took part in triathlons..a lot of them achieveing their best ever fitness levels in terms of testing
In at least 3 matches you speak of where you've scored late goals, ive seen comments of a tired looking oldham etc..we've run over teams
As has been mentioned, things like this happen both ways,by your method we got relegated due to bad luck...or by any sane method..due to the fact we couldnt concentrate to the very end
Quality wise, only us, forest and maybe harlepool seem to have that cutting edge, carlisle i cant comment on cos i havent seen them at all
But we're solid as a rock at the back and have strikers who are deadly in front of goal..**** me...we're cheats, lucky, should have been docked "draft picks" instead of points:D that one still makes me laugh, have we done anything right in your eyes? did a leeds bully hurt you as a child? honestly even the biggest leeds haters have given us credit this year

Ummm do you even follow English football?

Brighton won back to back championships in 2000/01, 2001/02 so they have technically won more than Leeds have in the last 10 years.

Rotherham have been promoted in that time.

And Shrewsbury won a play off final to get back into the league.

So the odd one out in the last 10 years would be Leeds as they are the only side to have gone backwards and not forwards at any stage ;)

Your whole post smacks off someone who started following a side because they were winning something at some stage.

Why else would you put 'otherwise you'll end up supporting sides like.......'

That just reeks of 'if you dont pick a big club you'll always just support a shit middle of the table team.'

But highly typical and predictable of the average aussie soccer fan.

Re: Leeds United Thread 07/08

Oh well, the run had to come to an end. Just from the match reports on the official website it seems as if we have been coasting a bit in our last few games so hopefully any complacency is gone now. Maybe we have been lucky this year, who cares! We are still playing very well with injuries, and luck alone does not win you 11 games.

really missing our enforcers in midfield..ran into a red hot carlisle
the run had to end..the test will be how we recover from this...
still waiting to get those points back in exchange for a couple of kids;)

Nice Try. I've been supportting Carlisle since 1979 when they were in the second division, and since then they have been relegated all the way to Conference football before this current revival. I've been to Brunton Park on a dozen occassions and can tell you a great deal about our interesting 103 year history, which isn't too bad for an 'average aussie soccer fan'.

That fact that you failed to answer my questions and got rather aggressive in your responce suggests, that perhaps you are the person who doesn't know a great deal about English Football. So answer my question, has Carlisle United come up against your team yet??

And speaking of Carlisle, the 3-1 win last night was a huge result for us, possibly the biggest result we've had since the day we beat Tottenham 1-0 to go top of England's First Division (as it was called all those years ago). I think we have the ingredients in place to make a genuine attempt at promotion this year, but a few more players to increase our depth would be nice. I still think Leeds are certainties for the title, I just hope we are the second club to win automatic promotion.

Well you're on a Leeds thread responding as if you are a Leeds fan, so my bad.

But you still suggested Brighton win nothing when obviously this is far from correct.

And no you have not played my team yet, you will play us on 24th of November.

:confused::confused::confused:

I've been goading the Leeds fans for 3 weeks saying their first defeat would be at the hands of Carlisle, and somehow you read it as me being a Leeds Supporter!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!:confused:

How???? I'm sure I wrote it in English. Can you read????:D:D

Sorry there was supposed to a couple of smilies. It was said in jest.

Wow 3 weeks and I only bothered reading the thread when we played them a week os so ago so I'm hardly likely to trawl back through a thread just for your posts.
